Forty of the 44 defendants charged in the racketeering conspiracy have been convicted, including 24 correctional officers. Thirty-five defendants pleaded guilty; five defendants were convicted after trial. Three defendants were acquitted and one defendant died.

Murder USA: Ex-con Dean Baynard charged with attempted murder in slice-up between pals

Baynard has been a recent resident of the Maryland Prison System, living in a cell in Jessup, Md., until he was allowed probation. He was sentenced to prison after he entered a guilty plea to resisting arrest and interfering with an arrest in a deal with Talbot County States Attorney Scott Patterson which sent him away for three years but the deal included having two of the years suspended. Restitution in the amount of $772.14 was ordered in return for a charge of malicious destruction of property being dropped. His period of probation ends on Aug. 26, 2016.

The investigation revealed the victim was in the 800 block of North King Street when he was approached by (2) suspects; who displayed firearms and demanded the victim’s property. Once the suspects removed an undisclosed amount of US currency a physical altercation took place between the victim and the suspects. During the altercation, the victim received a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim and the suspects are known to each other and there are suspected narcotic overtones associated with this incident.

Bad Luck for Bad Luckett; Charged with Armed Robbery – Attempted Murder Charges Loom

The suspect then shot at the victim; however the gun misfired and the victim fled on foot. As the victim ran the suspect continued to shoot at him; one bullet struck a vehicle while a woman and a small child were sitting inside. The victim was able to hide in the woods and the suspect fled the area on foot.

On December 11, 2014, detectives identified a suspect in the case. Detectives located and arrested Torian Taylor Luckett, age 19, of Great Mill. Luckett was charged with Armed Robbery, Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree and Theft $1,000 to $10,000. Luckett was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and incarcerated under No Bond.

Severn, Md. According to Anne Arundel County Police on August 29, 2014 at approximately 11:59 P. M., officers from Western District responded to the 8500 Blk. of Pioneer Dr. Severn, Md. 21144 for the report of a stabbing that had just occurred.

Upon arrival officers learned that the 30 year old male victim had been involved in an altercation with the below suspects. At one point during the altercation, the victim was stabbed multiple times by the suspects. The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to University Maryland Shock Trauma with serious non-life threating injuries. The victim is in critical but stable condition at this time.

On July 2, 2014, Deputy Manns responded to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center for a fight between inmates. The investigation revealed inmates Patrick James Hutching, 31, of Leonardtown, and Tyler Allen Messick, 22, of Leonardtown, engaged in several mutual fights during an extended period of time. Hutching and Messick were both charged with 2nd Degree Assault on fellow inmates.
