A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and arrived on scene with Carnival Pride east of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
“Having been forced to abandon ship so far from shore could have turned out much worse,” said Lt. Jake Conrad, Air Station Borinquen MH-65 Dolphin helicopter pilot.
Mr. Brown’s body was found tangled in a nearby gill net. The Marine Police and other law enforcement agencies will continue to search for Mr. West until dark and will resume the search tomorrow if necessary.
In 2012, the same officer was involved in another crash in his cruiser while under the influence in Oxon Hill. Prince George’s County Police arrested the officer following that crash. He pleaded guilty to those charges.
