SELBYVILLE, DEL. – A kid wearing a mask who broke into an occupied home as the victims slept last fall and stole guns and coins turned one of the stolen guns on the resident of the home and fired twice on the homeowner has been collared by the cops.
He then got into a nearby silver Nissan Xterra and used the vehicle to block her in the driveway and reportedly exited the car and stood in front of the victim’s car and continued to fire multiple shots.
Once law enforcement arrived, the homeowner told police the two men had fled the residence and ran south on Knife Box Road. He informed police the men stole a pistol, a large amount of U.S. currency, and other personal belongings.
Detectives are also looking for Avery Maxwell, 24 of Smyrna, who is wanted for Home Invasion, Robbery 2nd, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Conspiracy 2nd. Maxwell may be in the New Jersey area.
During their exodus from the Locust Point community, the suspects fired several additional rounds at two neighbors who saw the Ford Escape parked nearby and attempted to stop them from fleeing.
Delaware State Police reports that Lauren Melton was transported back to Troop 4 where she was arrested for Home Invasion, Robbery 2nd, Assault 2nd, and Conspiracy 2nd.
Police say the driver of the motor vehicle was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for the treatment of injuries caused by the motor vehicle’s window shattering – not from gunshots, but from the gunfire blowing out the glass.
Laura Martin represented Silberstein when he was charged by Calvert Deputy Patrick “Dave” McDowell with second-degree rape, fourth-degree sex offense, and second-degree assault.
