Southern Maryland Police Beat: Guns and shots of firewater led to gunfire

LUSBY, MD. — Devon should likely go on the wagon, if his actions over the weekend are any example of what the rest of his life is all about.

On August 9 at 11:46 p.m. Dep. N. Gilmore responded to the Southern Community Center in Lusby for a reported fight in the parking lot.

Upon arrival Dep. Gilmore did not observe anyone fighting. As she patrolled the parking lot she saw a vehicle parked with the engine still running, occupied by two males. She saw a beer bottle near the rear tire on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

She approached the vehicle and noticed another can of beer by the driver’s legs and detected a strong odor of alcohol.

Beach News: DUI driver had two fender-benders and had no desire to dance with Rehoboth Police

REHOBOTH DEL. — Rehoboth Beach police made a quick arrest after an intoxicated female driver did not initially stop for officers on Rehoboth Avenue.

Police had received a tip that the driver of a blue Dodge Neon could be intoxicated and had left the scene of two fender-benders on Second Street and was headed for the Sandcastle Hotel around 3:14 p.m. Tuesday.

In less than a minute of receiving the report, Rehoboth Beach police were behind her car. She headed through the intersection at Second Street and turned east on Rehoboth Avenue.

This Greenhorn was no tenderfoot

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. — Maryland State Police report that on 8/6/14 at 1:35 pm, Trooper First Class Costello responded to the area of the PNC Bank in Prince Frederick for a reported disorderly subject. Timothy E. Greenhorn, 36 of no fixed address, was located in an extremely intoxicated condition. Greenhorn was belligerent and became aggressive during contact with police. He was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

Frederick Drug Shop on Wheels Gave Cops a Hell-Ride on Interstate

FREDERICK, MD. — According to Frederick Police on 08-4-2014 at approximately 1510 hours, an off duty Frederick Police Officer was in the area of Woodville Rd. and Rt. 144, when he observed an RV being operated in a reckless manner, swerving in the roadway and nearly causing several collisions. The officer followed the RV from Rt. 144 onto Rt. 70 W/B and from there to the City of Frederick limits. The officer continued to observe violations and a second city officer along with 2 Maryland State Police Troopers were able to join him in the area of Rt. 15 and Motter Ave. and stopped the RV on the Motter Ave. ramp.

Further investigation revealed the operator of the RV to be in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana. During a subsequent search incident to arrest, significant quantities of other controlled dangerous substances were found including Amphetamine, Methadone, Bath Salts, Oxycodone and Cocaine.

ARRESTS 7-30-14

ALCOHOL VIOLATION – On July 25, 2014, Deputy Krum assigned to the Lexington Park COPs UNIT, observed suspects Francine Mae Morgan, 55, of Lexington Park, and James Calvin Morgan, 49, of Lexington Park, in the area of South Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park, consuming alcoholic beverages. Both were charged with the violation by criminal citation.

The following arrests are reported by the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack:

Theft/Shoplifting: On 7/28/14 @ 03:25 pm, Trooper Palumbo responded to the Walmart in Prince Frederick for a shoplifting complaint. Wendy L. Bartlett, 48 of Solomons, placed several items in her handbag and exited the store without paying for them. She was confronted in the parking lot by the Loss Prevention Officer and was detained until police arrived. She was arrested and incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

DUI & Morphine Pills: On 7/28/14 at 09:01 pm, Trooper First Class Barlow stopped a vehicle on Rt. 4 near Rt. 402 in Prince Frederick for traffic violations. TFC Barlow detected the faint odor of alcohol emitting from the driver. A field sobriety test was performed. Lamonte L. Cox Jr., 48 of Huntingtown, was arrested for driving under the influence. A search revealed numerous Morphine pills for which he did not have a prescription. Cox was incarcerated at the Calvert County Detention Center.

6-1-14 Wayne Riley, age 50 of Woodbridge, VA was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged with Theft less than $500.

6-2-14 Jerry Taylor, age 46 of Pocomoke City, MD was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged with Assault – 1st Degree and Assault – 2nd Degree.

6-3-14 Quana Dennis, age 42 of Pocomoke City, MD was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged on a Warrant: Child Support – noncompliance by the Wicomico County Sherriff’s Office.

6-3-14 Joseph Richardson, age 29 of Pocomoke City, MD was arrested by the Pocomoke City Police Department and charged with violating an exparte/protective order.
