Calvert Sheriff’s Police Beat / Double Fatal Crash in Calvert County

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. – Two women were killed in Calvert County when one of them crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the other, reports Calvert Sheriff Mike Evans.

According to police, on December 13, 2017, at 11:53 a.m. deputies with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Plum Point Road and Cecil Lane for a report of a motor vehicle collision.  Upon arrival, deputies requested members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team (CRT) respond. 

Reconstruction units arrived on scene and determined that a 2017 Ford Fusion, operated by Susan Irene Brown, 66, of Prince Frederick, Md., was traveling eastbound on Plum Point Road near the intersection of Cecil Lane.

 At the same time a 2011 Ford Escape, operated by Angela Elaine Sunstone, 41, of North Beach, Md., was traveling westbound on Plum Point Road in the same area.  The preliminary investigation revealed the 2017 Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line and struck the 2011 Ford Escape in a head-on collision. 

            Police say that both the driver of the Ford Fusion and the Ford Escape were transported to the Calvert Medical Health Center where they both succumbed to their injuries.

Dog lost at crash scene found and returned to owners

FROM PRINCE FREDERICK VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT:

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. — Company 2 responded to Armory Rd and Steeple Chase Dr for a personal injury accident. Units arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with one trapped. The subject was extricated and transported to a Trauma Facility.

The family is from Pa and is visiting for the holidays. When the accident occurred, their dog ran off and was later found and reunited with the family.
