<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">BALTIMORE CITY, MD. &#8212; Baltimore Police say that they have arrested a Baltimore man for the murder of Troy Horton Jr., which took place on May 29, 2017.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On June 20, 2017, Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested 21-year-old Miguel Laquan Duke Jr., of 2401 Westwood Avenue, Baltimore, Md.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Detectives located Duke in the 6900 block of Donachie Road.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Miguel Duke was arrested for the murder that occurred on May 29, 2017, in the 1700 block of Ruxton Avenue.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Detectives transported Duke to Central Booking Intake Facility where he has been charged with first-degree murder.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On May 29, 2017, at approximately 11:38 p.m., Western District patrol officers responded to the 1700 block of Ruxton Avenue for a report of a shooting.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Upon officer’s arrival, they located the victim, 30-year-old Troy Horton Jr. of the 1700 block of Ruxton Avenue, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Medics transported Horton to an area hospital where he was pronounced.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Duke will appear for a preliminary hearing in Baltimore City District Court on July 19, 2017, on charges of first and second-degree murder, possession, and use of a handgun in a violent crime, assault, and reckless endangerment. He was jailed on June 21, 2017.</span></p>

<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Arrested on an assault charge in Baltimore City on June 20, 2016, the charge was put on the Stet Docket by the Baltimore City States Attorney Mosby on July 28, 2016. Taxpayers provided a public defender to represent him in the plea deal.</span></li>

Michael Mazyck, Duke, who had been living in the Montgomery County Jail, entered into a plea deal with Montgomery County States Attorney John McCarthy and his taxpayer-provided free public defender. THE DEAL: In exchange for a guilty plea on Sept. 15, 2015, Duke was sentenced to three months and 41 days in jail with credit given for 41 days’ time served. A second charge of assault on a department of corrections employee was put on the Stet Docket.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Duke was indicted in Montgomery County Circuit Court on charges of Robbery, the conspiracy of robbery and violation of probation. On May 4, 2015, before Circuit Court Judge Ann S. Harrington, Duke entered a plea of guilty and was sentenced in the plea deal to five years in jail with all but one year suspended and supervised probation for 18 months.</span></li>
