FREDERICKSBURG, VA. — Just two blocks the historic battlefields which saw Americans kill each other by the thousands during the Civil War, another uncivil war over a property line ended in death.

Sheriff Roger L. Harris announced the arrest of Larry Keith Johnston, 80, of Spotsylvania County, charging him with 1st Degree Murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

On 05/21/17, Deputies responded to the 7200 block of Young Lane in reference to a shooting. Deputies located the 65-year-old homeowner lying in the driveway of his residence. The victim had succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the chest. Johnston was taken into custody after deputies located him at his neighboring residence.

Detectives arrived on scene and interviewed several witnesses. It was discovered that this incident stemmed from an ongoing feud over the property boundary. The victim had a landscaping crew on scene performing lawn maintenance when the incident occurred.

Sheriff Roger Harris encourages citizens to remove themselves from the situation and contact their local law enforcement authorities if they encounter someone who is verbally/physically aggressive.

“We are devastated to announce the death of Guy Prudhomme on May 21st at his home in Spotsylvania.

Guy was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Patsy, six children and four in-law children, and one grandchild.

Guy was also an international businessman who enjoyed success in his native Mauritius, India, and finally his adopted home in the U.S.

Blessed with infectious humor, enthusiasm and a zest for life, Guy brought joy to his family and all those he met.

We thank everyone for their understanding as we request privacy and space to grieve during these difficult times.”
