<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">SALISBURY, MD. – Maryland State Police reports that there is one less murder suspect on the streets, to match the elimination of one less burglary suspect. Maryland State Police report that homicide investigators arrested a Wicomico County man in connection with the murder of Walter Whitehead in Somerset County.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The accused is identified as Marquel Brumskin, aka ‘Flat’, 26, of Salisbury. Police located Brumskin at a residence in Salisbury on April 17, 2017, at 8:00 p.m. He was apprehended without incident. Brumskin is charged with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a handgun in the commission of a felony and reckless endangerment. He was transported to the District Court Commissioner in Somerset County for his initial appearance.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The victim wanted burglary suspect Walter Whitehead, 22, of Salisbury, Maryland was found dead in the backyard of a residence in the 32,000 block of Flower Hill Church Road in Eden on the morning of Friday, April 14, 2017. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner notified State Police investigators that Whitehead’s death was caused by gunshot wounds. The manner of his death was determined to be due to homicide.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Police believe Brumskin used to live in the 32,000 block of Flower Hill Church Road in a home, where Whitehead’s body was found in the backyard, about five houses down. Brumskin’s home is believed to have been vacant at the time of the murder. Further investigation indicates Brumskin and Whitehead were involved in an alleged altercation earlier in the afternoon of the murder. Based on additional information received, evidence collected, and consultation with the Somerset County State’s Attorney, Brumksin was charged with the murder of Walter Whitehead.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Shortly before 7:00 a.m. last Friday, the Princess Anne Barrack received a 9-1-1 call from a neighbor who observed the victim’s body lying in the backyard of a neighboring residence. Troopers from the barrack arrived on scene and located him deceased at the scene.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Investigators from the Criminal Enforcement Division and Maryland State Police Homicide Unit continue to actively investigate this case. Police do not believe this was a random act of violence.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">EDEN, MD – Maryland State Police reports that not everything is coming up roses in Eden, Maryland, this spring. In one backyard, dead bodies are appearing. Police say that homicide investigators are conducting a death investigation in the rear of a home on Flower Hill Church Road in Eden, Somerset County.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The victim is identified as Walter Whitehead, 22, of Salisbury, Maryland.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">EDEN, MD. – Not only do local residents of Eden go crazy and commit arson and murder, but the city types find Eden to be a convenient dumping ground for those who are killed in Baltimore County. Two men from Baltimore will go to trial for murder later in 2017 while charges against a woman who was with the two alleged killers have been dropped.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> Maryland State Police reported on Oct. 30, 2015, investigators from the Homicide Unit arrested three individuals connected to the Somerset County death investigation of Damon Jennings.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The individuals arrested are identified as Elijah Electro Carroll, 22, 306 North Freemont Avenue in Baltimore (and currently in the Baltimore County Jail), Kevin Andrew Nixon, 22, of 5938 Talbot Street, Gwynn Oak, Md., and Jazzmine Morton, 21, of the 3100 block of Ferndale Avenue in Baltimore. Carroll is charged with first-degree murder. Nixon and Morton are each charged with accessory after the fact of murder.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">All three were reported to be with Jennings just before when he was last seen alive.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Nixon was arrested Oct. 29, 2015, and was first jailed at the Somerset County Detention Center. Morton and Carroll were arrested in Baltimore City.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">As of April 14, 2017, Carroll is still pending trial after being indicted in Baltimore County Circuit Court. Carroll is represented by Baltimore attorney Margaret Mead, who while listed as a “Super Lawyer” made a super error in the case of a convicted killer and never told her client that the prosecution offered a deal of ten years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">In 2016, WBAL reported that the client of Mead who had been serving a life sentence for murder would soon be set free as a result of Mead’s failure to let her client know he was offered a plea deal.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">“In August 2007, a jury convicted now 29-year-old Jonathan Everett of first-degree murder and other charges. He got a life sentence for shooting 25-year-old Teon White in the back five times on Koko Lane almost a year earlier.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">In 2015, at a post-conviction hearing Everett&#8217;s attorney during his trial, Margaret Mead, testified she did not represent her client properly never telling him about a plea deal the state&#8217;s attorney offered him for 10 years in prison.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The victim, identified as Damon G. Jennings, 22, of the 5200 block of Hill Well Road in Baltimore, was reported missing to the Baltimore Police Department on the night of October 15, 2015.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Jennings’ body was found around 2:00 p.m. on October 29, 2015, along Backbone Road near Seatick Road in Eden, Maryland. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Jennings’ death a homicide due to multiple stab wounds.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Jennings was a hairdresser and worked at the Maryland Live Casino.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Police believe all three suspects worked with Jennings in an event promotions business.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">In 2016, Baltimore County prosecutors dropped the charges against Morton, who had been alleged to assist in moving the body of Jennings following the murder and dumping it in a ditch along Backbone Road in Eden, Md.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">After an investigation prosecutors decided that the murder took place Baltimore County and charges in Somerset were dropped by Somerset County States Attorney Daniel Powell on Aug. 23, 2016,</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The same day, Carroll and Nixon were indicted in Baltimore County.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Charging documents revealed that Nixon told police that he witnessed Carroll stab Jennings to death in Baltimore County and that he and Morton helped move the dead man’s body several days later and dumped in Eden.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Nixon’s name was found on a wire transfer near the murdered man’s body on Backbone Road on Oct. 31, 2015, by Maryland State Police investigators and he was quickly linked as a suspect.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Nixon faces trial on July 25, 2017, in Baltimore County Circuit Court for multiple charges including first-degree murder, robbery, accessory and conspiracy to murder, assault, and rob Damon Jennings. On Sept. 14, 2016, criminal defense attorney Matthew Gordon entered his appearance on behalf of Nixon.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Nixon was convicted of DUI in Wicomico County District Court on Nov. 25, 2014, when he entered into a plea deal with the Wicomico County States Attorney and received Probation Before Judgement. The plea deal included a guilty plea and a fine of $250.00 with no jail time. Nixon was arrested by Maryland State Trooper Delvecchio on Aug. 30, 2014, when stopped on Rt. 50 at Mill Street in Salisbury, Md.</span></p>
