NORFOLK, VA.  – Norfolk Police reports that Detectives have reclassified the undetermined death investigation from Jan. 28, 2017, on Bayview Boulevard in Norfolk as a homicide and charged her husband.

Shortly after 6 a.m., dispatchers received a call for first responders to check on the welfare of a 36-year-old woman living in the 1600 block of East Bayview Boulevard.  When they arrived, they found Sophan Torn inside her home deceased.

Detectives initially classified her death as undetermined; however, they reclassified the investigation as a homicide and arrested her husband, David M. Tackett, 40, in Henrico County on Jan. 28, 2017, without incident.

Tackett is currently being held in Henrico County with no bond on a second-degree murder charge.

Shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday morning, first responders received a call for them to check on the welfare of a 36-year-old woman living in the 1600 block of East Bayview Boulevard. When they arrived, they found the woman the inside home deceased.
