BELTSVILLE, MD. – A Howard County woman ran into a stopped police car at a crash scene on I-95 and fled, reports the Maryland State Police.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m., on Oct. 4, 2016, a Maryland State Police, College Park Barrack trooper responded to a vehicle collision on northbound I-95 at Rt. 200 ICC (Inter County Connector), Beltsville, Maryland.  While the trooper was handling that collision on the right shoulder, a Maryland Transportation Authority (MTA) Police Officer arrived to assist the trooper at the scene.

All vehicles were parked on the right side of the roadway in a construction zone away from the flow of traffic.  The MTA Officer was sitting in the driver’s side seat in his marked Chevy Caprice patrol vehicle with his emergency lights activated.

The driver of a Chevy Cruze collided with the driver’s side of the officer’s cruiser deploying the officer’s vehicle airbags.  After the collision, the driver of the Cruise fled the scene.  Troopers were able to locate that vehicle driving north on I-95 and a traffic stop was initiated.  The driver was ultimately arrested for suspected impaired driving.  The operator of the Chevy Cruze was identified as the registered owner, Carol Reed, 43, of Columbia, Maryland
