DELAWARE STATE POLICE BEAT / Dirtbag given a new place to chill in the slammer after he allegedly robbed an old lady in a Wawa
NEW CASTLE, DEL. A dirtbag who attempted to shake down an old lady for loose change decided to take her $20 bill as she was in a Wawa, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. Jeffrey R. Hale.
The police say that their investigation determined that the incident occurred at approximately 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016, as a 78-year-old female customer of the Wawa, located at 4000 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, was approached by a male suspect who asked her for change. After the victim advised the suspect, later identified as Brett S. Gunther, 35, of Parkton, MD, that she did not have any change,
Gunther grabbed her by the arm and attempted to take a $20.00 bill from her hand. He was unsuccessful, however, and fled from the parking lot. The victim, who was not injured, then contacted an officer from the Newark Police Department who was at the store and provided him with a description of the suspect. Gunther was located by responding troopers a short time later, approximately ¼ mile south of the Wawa. He was taken into custody without incident.
Brett Gunther was arrested and transported to Troop 6 where he was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution for lack of $11,000.00 secured bail.
Gunther was hoofing it away from Wawa as the lack of an ability to work a job, pay for a car, buy insurance or maintain a driver’s permit has left him repeatedly facing driving while suspended charges in Maryland.
When not robbing little old ladies for money so he can buy drugs, Brett Stephen Gunther, of 16923 Flickerwood Road, Parkton, Md., appears in court to face criminal charges such as on March 4, 2013 when he entered into a plea deal with the Worcester County States Attorney to pay a fine for possession of drug distribution equipment. Gunther was hoofing it away from Wawa as the lack of an ability to work a job, pay for a car, buy insurance or maintain a driver’s permit has left him repeatedly facing driving while suspended charges in Maryland. Family members have posted bond for him in the past.
Robbing old ladies?
This guy is a classic crackhead dirtbag, his own admission in court, and deserves to stay in the slammer in Delaware for a number of years.
