MURDER USA: Handoff of child during court-ordered custody exchange ended with one shot dead, one in jail for murder

STAFFORD, VA. — The Stafford Sheriff’s Office reported a shooting on May 20, 2016, that occurred near the intersection of State Route 630 and Interstate 95. The incident happened at the Exxon Station located at 1049 Courthouse Road at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The Exxon was the location a court ordered custody exchange was taking place. During the exchange, a domestic dispute developed and a shooting occurred.

Corey Andrew Terry, 27, is accused of killing a 20-year-old man from Chester, Virginia. Virginia State Police BeatThe victim, Austen Tyler Agnor, was pronounced dead at Stafford Hospital Center. After firing multiple shots, Terry fled the scene running across Courthouse Road and onto the southbound ramp of the interstate.

MURDER USATerry was apprehended without incident near the intersection of American Legion Road and Jefferson Davis Highway at approximately 9 p.m. by a Virginia State Trooper.

Terry has been charged with First Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The investigation is ongoing.

The Stafford Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the manhunt by the Virginia State Police, a helicopter from the Fairfax County Police Department and a K-9 Unit from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
