<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">An Essex man that reported to police that he was shot at the corner of Middleborough Road and Hartland Road in Essex on September 27, 2015, has been charged with making a false statement.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Just after 7 p.m. on September 27th, police responded to the intersection of Middleborough Road and Hartland Road for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived at the location, they found 22-year-old Davantay Maurice Sanders, AKA Terrance Carey, of 2915 Essex Road in Gwynn Oak, Md., and of 1279 Sugarwood Circle in Essex, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his lower body. Medical personnel transported him to an area hospital for treatment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sanders told police that he was standing at a bus stop when he was shot by an unknown suspect.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit determined that the story that Sanders told police was not true. Sanders had actually shot himself by mistake.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sanders was charged with false statement to an officer, handgun violations, and several counts of reckless endangerment. He was released on $30,000 bail so he can go spend more time on the range.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Baltimore City States Attorney dropped drug charges against Sanders on Aug. 2, 2012; perhaps Sanders dropped the dime on drug dealers to make his charges disappear. That could be why he is packing heat.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sanders may also need a gun in his part-time trade as a burglar. In Frederick County Circuit Court on Sept. 14, 2009, Sanders entered a guilty plea to burglary and escape. He was sentenced to prison for eighteen months and when given probation afterwards, violated his probation. Yet, with this record, the District Court Commissioner in Baltimore County allowed this dirtbag with a handgun violation to be released on bail. Only in the Alice in Wonderland System of Justice in Maryland!</span></p>
