Virginia Police Beat: Anthony Purter killed in wreck on I-64

RICHMOND MAN KILLED IN CAR CRASH

Virginia State Police raise the U. S. flag.

New Kent County- A Richmond man was killed Sunday (March 8) in a single vehicle crash in New Kent County. The crash occurred at 12:25 p.m., on Interstate 64 westbound at the 219.9 mile marker.

Virginia State Police Trooper M. Foster investigated the crash, reports Sgt. Steve Vick.

A 1999 Mercury Mountaineer was traveling west on Interstate 64 when it ran off the road right and struck several trees.

The driver (single occupant) of the 1999 Mercury, Anthony K. Purter, 46, of Richmond, Va., died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
