Fleeing Felon Fled Flatfoots in Freeway Flight</h2>
<p>PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. &#8212; A dirtbag who stole a hot set of wheels fled from Calvert Sheriff’s deputies when he was spotted on Rt. 4 and in spite of having one of his tires deflated by stop sticks thrown in his path, he continued to flee from police on the rim of the wheel until crashing near Upper Marlboro where he escaped, bloodied, but free to pursue more crime and mayhem.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Southern-Maryland-Police-Beat.jpg"><img class="alignleft wp-image-3393 size-medium" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Southern-Maryland-Police-Beat-300x105.jpg" alt="Southern Maryland Police Beat" width="300" height="105" /></a>Perhaps indicating from whence he came, the fleeing felon aimed for Prince Georges County as he fled Southern Maryland and roared up the Rt. 4 at speeds over 100 mph.</p>
<p>Capt. Todd Ireland, Patrol Commander of the Calvert Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident began on February 15, 2015 at 8:19 p.m. the Calvert Control Center received a 911 call from a victim stating his vehicle had just been stolen from 1608 Mint Ct, Prince Frederick.</p>

<p>Police report that the victim described the vehicle as a 2012 white Dodge Charger with Maryland registration 3AP6740. Dep. Ward of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office observed the vehicle travelling north bound on RT4 in area of Calvert Memorial Hospital and attempted to stop the vehicle.</p>
<p>The operator of the vehicle accelerated and a pursuit ensued. Sheriff’s Office units coordinated the deployment of stop sticks in the area of Cherry Hill Road and Maryland Rt. 4. The driver’s side front tire was deflated by the stop sticks. The vehicle continued north on Rt. 4. The tire which had been deflated by the stop stick deployment separated from the rim of the vehicle in the area of Skinners Turn Road. The vehicle continued north driving on only the rim at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The pursuit continued into Anne Arundel County and then into Prince Georges County.</p>
<p>The vehicle took the exit for Water Street at the Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro where it crashed into a tree in the wooded area along the access ramp that leads back to Maryland Rt. 4 north. The suspect fled the wreckage on foot. K-9 and a helicopter with FLIR were deployed in an effort to locate the suspect. After an extensive search the suspect was not located and his whereabouts and identity are unknown at this time. The PG County Police Department responded to assist with the search and assumed the crash investigation. Maryland State Police and Park Police assisted with the search also. There was a substantial amount of blood around the crash scene and blood drenched clothing was also located nearby indicating the suspect received substantial injury during the crash.</p>
