Cops nab man, they say, has been dealing in child porn
RISING SUN, MD. – Maryland State Police investigators seized evidence from the home of James John Stanley, 28, of 10 W. Main Street in Rising Sun, Md. That evidence, they report will substantiate charges of child pornography, they have placed against him. Stanley is now incarcerated pending bail being posted.
Stanley was arrested for distributing child pornography to a social media website.
Police say that a search warrant was executed at Stanley’s residence and will be examined by investigators.
Those items seized included digital media such as computers and cellular telephones.
Maryland State Police Detective R. Schwarb filed charges of promoting and distributing child pornography for incidents that took place on Oct. 20, 2014, according to court records.
Stanley’s bail of $50,000 was determined by a District Court Commissioner in Cecil County, Md.
The Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force works statewide and is composed of police and sheriff’s departments from around Maryland. The Task Force also works with the FBI and Homeland Security in tracking down and charging those are dealing in child porn.
A preliminary hearing will be held on Feb. 13, 2015 in Cecil County District Court in Elkton, Md.
Stanley maintains a Facebook page which includes dozens of “friends”, who may find themselves to be the object of investigation by the task force to determine if any of them have been exchanging or purchasing child pornography from Stanley. His Facebook page reveals he is married. He may experience a sudden departure of his “friends” as they learn of his arrest.
There are no other criminal charges on Maryland court records for Stanley.
