Others in the area who have been victims of similar crimes should call the Sheriff’s Department.

Police say that on December 25, 2014, Corporal J. Somerville responded to the Clover Hill Dairy located on Woodburn Hill Road in Mechanicsville for a theft in progress. The complainant reported two male suspects loading several pieces of equipment (electric motors, 12-foot steel pipe, small assorted pieces of steel), into a utility trailer being towed by a red Nissan pickup. Corporal Somerville located the vehicle while responding to the call. The suspects were identified as Hugo Armando Lopez-Najera, 32, of Hyattsville, and Mynor Humberto Reyes-Lopez, 22, of Hyattsville. The same two suspects also stole materials from the same business on December 22, 2014. The victim alleged he went to a residence on Horseshoe Road in Clements to pick up a friend. The victim stayed in the car while another subject went to the residence. While the victim was sitting in the car suspect Donald Earl Phares, 38, of Clements, approached the driver’s window with what the victim believed was a gun and ordered the victim to open the door. When the victim opened the car door Phares stuck the gun into the victim’s side and told him to leave the property. Phares then pointed the gun away from the victim and toward the ground before firing off a round. Phares was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
