Four indicted in hate spree included one murder; six already pleaded guilty in Mississippi

WASHINGTON—Acting Assistant Attorney General Jocelyn Samuels for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis for the Southern District of Mississippi announced today that a federal grand jury has indicted John Louis Blalack, 20, of Brandon, Mississippi, Sarah Adelia Graves, 21, of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Robert Henry Rice, 23, of Brandon, and Shelbie Brooke Richards, 20, of Pearl, Mississippi, for their alleged roles in a conspiracy to commit federal hate crimes against African-American people in Jackson, Mississippi.

Blalack, Graves and Richards are additionally charged with a racially motivated hate crime resulting in the death of a victim run over by a truck. Blalack and Rice are charged with two additional racially motivated hate crimes involving alleged assaults, and with carrying a firearm in relation to one of those assaults. Graves and Richards are additionally charged with soliciting others to commit hate crimes against African-Americans, and Graves is charged with making false statements to the FBI. Defendants Deryl Paul Dedmon, 20; John Aaron Rice, 19; Dylan Wade Butler, 21; William Kirk Montgomery, 23; Jonathan Kyle Gaskamp, 20; and Joseph Dominick, 22, all from Brandon, have previously entered guilty pleas in connection with their roles in these offenses. hate spree

Two Germantown Md. men involved in child porn ring; Florida man gets life sentence for child sex abuse

Through the investigation, law enforcement obtained computer hard drives that belonged to two of the group’s members, Mark J. Newton and Peter Truong, who were sentenced to serve 40 years in prison and 30 years in prison, respectively, for their crimes.

Forensic examination of the hard drives yielded images and videos of boys being sexually abused.
Revay was a member of that online chat group.

In 1997, Revay and Truong were living together in an apartment in Germantown, Maryland, where they enticed a then-12-year-old child to come to their apartment. They sexually abused the victim on numerous occasions and took pictures and videos of the abuse.
On March 19, 2013, as part of the investigation, law enforcement officers executed a federal search warrant at Revay’s residence in Oakland Park, Florida.

Southern Md. Police Beat: Two masked gunmen rob Bryans Road Shell at 9 am to start the robbing work day

On July 14 at 9:17 a.m., two masked men walked into the Bryans Road Shell gas station at 6985 Indian Head Highway in Bryans Road, pulled guns and demanded money from the station’s clerks and customers who were inside.

No one was hurt and the suspects fled, possibly in a gold colored car. masked gunmen.

Since the working, fishing, music making portions of our lives left little time for practice sessions, Ralph and I came up with a plan to work out our sets and teach Tony consistent timing.
Ralph flipped on the cassette player in the cabin. Tall lanky Tony started drumming on the engine box. I tossed my mesh bag holding a frozen block of chum overboard. Ralph and I baited up and threw our lines out while I flipped fresh chum from the five gallon bucket. Tony sang a song, then Ralph, back to Tony, then my word or two, and back to Tony.

Most sane fishermen would figure that there is no way we could catch a fish with all that cacophony taking place. Though their ears cannot be seen externally, fish have internal ear bones in their skull which hear amplified vibrations from their air bladder. Also, fish have a lateral line along their side that picks up vibrations in the water. During my years running party boat snapper night fishing trips in the Keys, I discovered that the hum of a genset produced more fish than running the night lights from the battery bank. Mixing a steady sound with an abundant flowing food source is actually a recipe for some very good fish catches if applied properly.

Southern Maryland Police Beat: Kevin Bryan Wright charged with armed holdup of Wawa

Upon arrival deputies determined a white male suspect entered the store and proceeded behind the counter where he removed five cartons of cigarettes from the shelf. A store employee confronted the suspect at which time the suspect raised his shirt indicating he was armed with a handgun.

The suspect fled on foot from the store and was pursued by two citizens who had witnessed the incident. The suspect was able to elude capture. The Criminal Investigations Division was contacted and assumed the investigation.

Summer on the Chesapeake Bay: Bow-fishing on the Potomac and Patuxent Rivers

Bow-fishing on the Potomac, So, I cast the baited but non-weighted rig behind the boat, flipped out a lot of slack line, and put the rod in the stern rod holder with an open bail while I baited up a bottom rig on another rod. By the time I got that rig to the bottom, the drift rig rod was jumping. I pulled in two big croakers on that rig and proceeded to catch my limit of croaker on the drift rig. I think the wire spreader has enough weight to drift to the bottom and move across with the current. Regardless of why it works, this is a good trick that you are welcome to forget but a smart fisherman won’t.

Regardless of whether you are catching one or two fish at a time, June is the time to catch a nice mess of fish with minimum effort. If you can’t catch them now, you might as well take up playing golf.

A Party of Three for Hotel St. Mary’s

An employee reported he was placing two vehicles inside the tow lot when a black male suspect, later identified as Sean Waddell Smith, 30, of Temple Hills, got into one of the vehicles (2008 Nissan Altima), started it, and drove toward the exit. The employee closed the gate to prevent the vehicle from leaving. Smith then exited the vehicle, pulled the gate open, and drove off the lot. Smith stopped and turned the vehicle over to who was later identified as Tyechia Juwan Shorter, 30, of Mechanicsville – the registered owner of the vehicle. The vehicle had not been towed as a result of police action

Virginia College Dean Michael G. Morris sentenced on child porn conviction

Michael G. Morris, who used the screen name “funshooter2006,” age 50, of Crozet, Virginia was indicted in 2013 and pleaded guilty on April 21, 2014 to two counts of distributing or receiving images of child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography. During the offenses charged, Morris was employed as an associate dean at the University of Virginia’s McIntyre School of Commerce. Morris was sentenced today before U.S. District Judge Norman K. Moon to 106 months in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release.

“Michael Morris was an associate dean at one of our country’s top universities, but instead of inspiring young minds academically, he was sharing and viewing pornographic images of young children,” said Assistant Attorney General Caldwell. “Today’s sentence demonstrates that those who trade and possess child pornography, no matter what positions of authority they may hold, will face the consequences for fueling an industry that causes immense damage to children.”
