the Case of the Wicked Babysitters of SalisburySALISBURY, MD.  When two kids were told by a couple watching them for their mother to discover where the TV remote was lost in the house, they failed to heed the warning. Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis reports that on Nov. 30, 2014 a deputy arrested Leslie Parks and her husband Leonard Parks in connection with an incident that had been reported on 24 Nov 2014 at 11:14 PM.

In this incident, deputies were called to a closed business on Jersey Road in Salisbury for the report of two young children sitting on the front steps for some time. Upon arrival, the deputies met with the children, 9 and 12 years of age, and they told the deputy that they had been kicked out of the residence where they had been staying.

The deputy learned that Leslie and Leonard Parks had been watching the two children on behalf of their mother when Leonard instructed the children to find the television remote within 15 minutes or he would kick them out of the residence.

After the children were unable to find it, they told the deputy they were pushed outside, the door was locked behind them and the lights were turned off.

The children did not know anyone to call and waited outside the store where they were found for approximately two hours until the deputy stopped to check on them. The deputy attempted to get an answer at the door of the Parks residence to no avail.

Upon arrest both Leslie and Leonard Parks were processed at the Central Booking Unit and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained both in the Detention Center in lieu of $30,000.00 bond each.

  1. First and foremost thank you for the positive comments and encouragement. I’m the mother of the 9 and 12 year old that this incident happened to. At this point the kids are with me and always have been. We have just been thur alot of unforeseen obstcales that lead us To being homeless. I had turned to what I had thought was friends that turned out to not be friends at all to watch the kids for me to walk and look for us a place to stay for a few days. I had come from Florida with my then fiance who turned out to be abusive. I had taken the kids and relocated having to leave my home, job, and everything for the safety of my children. I have seen a lot of positive comments and some negative. That is to be expected from people that haven’t been in this situation. If anyone can assist me with any help it would be greatly appreciated. I have trade skills in the medical field and I’m looking for opportunities to get our lives back on track. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless. If you would like to contact me you can get me at melissamancill6880@gmail.com
