
SALISBURY, MD (November 28, 2014) Deputy State Fire Marshals continue to investigate the cause of a single family dwelling fire that claimed the life of the adult male occupant. Wicomico County 911 received the initial call reporting the structure fire at 2:39 p.m. in the 600 Block of Cottontail Drive, Salisbury.
The reported fire brought 28 firefighters from the Salisbury Fire Department to the scene with the first unit arriving within 4 minutes of dispatch. Initial units made entry and discovered an adult male occupant deceased on the second floor. The deceased has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine positive identity and cause of death.
Fire department personnel were able to bring the fire under control with-in 35 minutes. The fire has caused an estimated $70,000.00 dollars in damage to the dwelling’s structure and contents.
Deputy State Fire Marshals have determined that the fire originated in an upstairs living room. The cause of the fire is currently still under investigation.
According to the Salisbury Fire Department: At 1441hrs stations 1,16, and 2 were dispatched to a house fire in the 1300 block of Foggy Bottom Dr. Truck 1 arrived and confirmed a working fire with fire showing from the 2nd floor of a 2 story Single family wood frame dwelling. Truck 1’s crew made a primary search of the 2nd floor finding a victim at the top of the stairs and removed him from the residence. The fire was quickly extinguished and crew remained on scene for extensive overhaul.
