Clayton, Del. (Sept. 24, 2014) – Delaware State Police Troopers are investigating a crash that occurred last evening involving two motorcycles and a car sending five people to area hospitals.
Police say that the incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. Tuesday September 23, 2014 as Ravin C. Dean, 24, and Joseph W. Gonce, 25, both of Millington, MD were operating separate Kawasaki sport motorcycles westbound on Millington Road approaching Alley Corner Road.
Floyd D. Price, 87 of Smyrna, was operating a 2011 Hyundai Sonata southbound on Alley Corner Road and came to a stop at the posted stop sign prior to Millington Road. Price then entered into the intersection in order to left on Millington Road and pulled into the path of Ravin Dean who was traveling slightly in front of Gonce.
Police say that Dean attempted to swerve to the left to avoid the car and struck the front passenger’s side ejecting her from the motorcycle. Gonce attempted to swerve to the right and struck the back driver’s side tire of the car ejecting him from the motorcycle as well. After Gonce was ejected, his motorcycle became engulfed in flames. The Sonata came to a controlled stop in the eastbound lanes of Millington Road following the impacts.
Ravin Dean, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation to Christiana Medical Center where she is currently admitted in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Joseph Gonce, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by EMS to Kent General Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. His disposition is unknown.
Floyd Price and his two passengers, an 89 year old female and an 87 year old female, were all transported by EMS to Kent General Hospital where they were treated for various injuries. Treatment status and dispositions are unknown.
Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
