<p>LEXINGTON PARK, MD (Sept. 16, 2014) – Sgt. Jeff Jones of the Maryland State Police reports that two St. Mary’s County men were charged with breaking into a business and purloining various electronic equipment.</p>
<p>During the month of July 2014, patrol troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack responded to a commercial establishment, located in Lexington Park, St Mary’s County, MD for a reported burglary. During the Troopers preliminary investigation, they learned that several electronic devices were stolen during the course of the burglary.</p>
<p>Investigators from the Maryland State Police-Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region were contacted and assumed the investigation.</p>
<p>During the course of the investigation two suspects were identified. The first suspect, Mark Andrew Alvey, Jr., 21, who police say does not have an address but now can list the county jail as his home, was identified and charged on August 21, 2014 with Second Degree Burglary, Fourth Degree–Storehouse Burglary, Two (2) counts of Theft: Less $1,000 in value and Malicious Destruction of Property on a Criminal Summons.</p>
<p>The second suspect, Dale Thomas Norfolk, 26, of Leonardtown was also identified. He was located on September 15, 2014 by patrol troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack.</p>
<p>Norfolk was arrested without incident on an open arrest warrant, charging him with Second Degree Burglary, Fourth Degree–Storehouse Burglary, Two (2) counts of Theft: Less $1,000 in value and Malicious Destruction of Property. Norfolk was incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond hearing with the District Court Commissioner.</p>
<p>The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office.</p>
<p>In a recent round of dealings with the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office, Mark Andrew Alvey Jr. who last year had an address of 18434 Point Lookout Road in Park Hall, Md., was in District Court of St. Mary’s County to face charges of DWI, driving without tags, speeding, driving without a license, operating an unregistered vehicle and driving an uninsured vehicle.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Dirtbag-Roundup.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3295" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Dirtbag-Roundup-236x300.jpg" alt="Dirtbag Roundup" width="236" height="300" /></a>Alvey had been stopped by a Maryland State Trooper on Rt. 246 at St. Mary’s Square shopping center on Feb. 26, 2013 at 12:15 am. All of the charges except the DWI were dropped by St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz on April 25, 2013. In a plea agreement, Alvey pleaded guilty and the plea deal set out 180 days in jail with all but 160 days suspended. The deal had no fine attached and the court ordered him to pay court costs of $65.</p>
<p>On Feb. 26, 2013, Alvey was charged by Maryland State Trooper Nims with theft and in District Court of St. Mary’s County on May 23, 2013, States Attorney Richard Fritz put the charge on the stet docket with no fine or jail time for Alvey. Alvey was charged with assault on April 15, 2014 and on July 18, 2014 the charge was dropped by States Attorney Fritz.</p>
<p>Charged with domestic violence on June 23, 2014 Alvey was ordered by a Judge on July 8, 2014, to surrender his firearms and to stay away from the victim, her work, residence and not to abuse or harass.</p>
<p>Alvey pleaded guilty to assault in St. Mary’s District Court on May 23, 2013 and was sent to jail for 180 days with 170 days suspended. He was ordered to pay restitution of $1,696.43. Alvey was represented by Assistant Public Defenders Eric Sullivan and Gerald J. Riviello, both of whom are paid for by the taxpayers, and the arresting officer was Deputy Cory Ellis.</p>
<p>Alvey was stopped on a DWI charge on Rt. 235 by Trooper Pilkerton on Nov. 10, 2010 and in District Court on April 6, 2011 he entered a plea of guilty. He was sentenced to thirty days in jail with all of it suspended and ordered to pay a $185 fine.</p>
<p>On yet another burglary charge, Norfolk&#8217;s charge was dropped while one of Norfolk’s co-defendants was represented by Leonardtown attorney Kevin J. McDevitt.</p>
