<p>GREAT MILLS, MD. St. Mary&#8217;s Sheriff Tim Cameron is short on providing details on this burglary attempt of Holy Face Church located in Rt. 5 in Great Mills, as much as other incidents in his daily crime report. All the Sheriff released was that an attempted burglary of the church was made on Aug. 15, 2014. There were no photos or video released along with the report, nor was the time of day or night indicated.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;8-15-14 ATTEMPTED BURGLARY &#8211; Unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into the Holy Face Church.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>The St. Mary&#8217;s County Sheriff&#8217;s Department proved incapable of stopping two persons in 1992 who ran rampant over the county, breaking into and stealing various religious objects such as chalices and other alter accessories. The loss of valuable religious articles ran into thousands of dollars and as many as a dozen churches were targeted, all done without once begin intercepted by any Sheriff&#8217;s deputy or detective.</p>
<p>There were no photos or video of the burglars taken by any of the churches as few, if any, had any type of security installed.</p>
<p>The two persons were finally apprehended only due to the father of one of the burglars finding the religious articles in his son&#8217;s bedroom in his basement and turning him in to police.</p>
<p>The Sheriff&#8217;s Department sent a van out to pick up all of the stolen goods and set it up on a table in the Sheriff&#8217;s Headquarters and then called the D.C. TV stations so that they could trumpet their great investigation, of which they had nothing to do with solving. Pastors of the churches were told they couldn&#8217;t retrieve their stolen items until the TV stations arrived to film the large collection of recovered stolen property for that day&#8217;s evening news.</p>
<p>Later it was learned that the pair had also vandalized cemeteries elsewhere including Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D. C. and used human skulls to hold devil worshiping rituals.</p>
<p>Should the St. Mary&#8217;s Sheriff&#8217;s Office find there was any video or photos taken by the security cameras at Holy Face Church, if they are installed, this story will be updated.</p>

<p>8-13-14 Property Destruction &#8211; A victim, who resides on Laurel Grove Road, reported unknown suspect(s) damaged her mailbox. Several additional mailboxes were damaged in the neighborhood as well. Case remains open.</p>
<p>8-13-14 THEFT &#8211; A victim, who resides on Woodlawn Drive, reported unknown suspect(s) stole a go-cart from his residence. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Flerlage.</p>
<p>8-13-14 BURGLARY &#8211; A victim, who resides on Indentured Lane in St. Mary&#8217;s City, reported unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered his residence and stole property.</p>
<p>8-14-14 THEFT &#8211; A victim, who resides on Tin Top School Road, reported unknown suspect(s) stole a heat pump from his residence. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Roszell.</p>
<p>8-15-14 THEFT &#8211; A victim, who resides on Daisy Lane, reported unknown suspect(s) stole the Maryland Registration plate from her vehicle.</p>
<p>8-15-14 BURGLARY &#8211; A victim reported unknown suspect(s) entered his shed on Jennifer Drive in Mechanicsville and stole several items of property. Case remains open.</p>
<p>8-16-14 BURGLARY &#8211; A victim, who resides on Oxen Court reported unknown suspect(s) entered her residence and stole property. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Manns.</p>
<p>8-17-14 PROPERTY DESTRUCTION &#8211; A victim, who resides on Sandstone Street, reported unknown suspect(s) broke the windows out of his vehicle. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Fennessey.</p>
<p>8-17-14 CHILD NEGLECT &#8211; A 2 year old male was found outside in the area of 46860 Hilton Run Drive. The father who was located in a nearby apartment, believed the toddler&#8217;s mother had taken him with her. Case remains open and is assigned to DFC Rogers.</p>
<p>8-18-14 ASSAULT &#8211; A male victim reported he was assaulted by 2 unidentified black male suspects while he was sitting outside with his family on Eric Road in Lexington Park. The victim had an argument with the 2 suspects earlier in the day. He sustained minor injuries. Case remains open.</p>
