Southern Maryland Police Beat: burglar tried to get religion at Holy Face Church

5 in Great Mills&comma; as much as other incidents in his daily crime report&period;  All the Sheriff released was that an attempted burglary of the church was made on Aug&period; 15&comma; 2014&period;  There were no photos or video released along with the report&comma; nor was the time of day or night indicated&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<blockquote><p>&&num;8220&semi;8-15-14 ATTEMPTED BURGLARY &&num;8211&semi; Unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; attempted to gain entry into the Holy Face Church&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p><&sol;blockquote>&NewLine;<p>The St&period; Mary&&num;8217&semi;s County Sheriff&&num;8217&semi;s Department proved incapable of stopping two persons in 1992 who ran rampant over the county&comma; breaking into and stealing various religious objects such as chalices and other alter accessories&period; The loss of valuable religious articles ran into thousands of dollars and as many as a dozen churches were targeted&comma; all done without once begin intercepted by any Sheriff&&num;8217&semi;s deputy or detective&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>There were no photos or video of the burglars taken by any of the churches as few&comma; if any&comma; had any type of security installed&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The two persons were finally apprehended only due to the father of one of the burglars finding the religious articles in his son&&num;8217&semi;s bedroom in his basement and turning him in to police&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Sheriff&&num;8217&semi;s Department sent a van out to pick up all of the stolen goods and set it up on a table in the Sheriff&&num;8217&semi;s Headquarters and then called the D&period;C&period; TV stations so that they could trumpet their great investigation&comma; of which they had nothing to do with solving&period; Pastors of the churches were told they couldn&&num;8217&semi;t retrieve their stolen items until the TV stations arrived to film the large collection of recovered stolen property for that day&&num;8217&semi;s evening news&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Later it was learned that the pair had also vandalized cemeteries elsewhere including Congressional Cemetery in Washington&comma; D&period; C&period; and used human skulls to hold devil worshiping rituals&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Should the St&period; Mary&&num;8217&semi;s Sheriff&&num;8217&semi;s Office find there was any video or photos taken by the security cameras at Holy Face Church&comma; damaged her mailbox&period; Several additional mailboxes were damaged in the neighborhood as well&period; Case remains open&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-13-14 THEFT &&num;8211&semi; A victim&comma; who resides on Woodlawn Drive&comma; reported unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; stole a go-cart from his residence&period; Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Flerlage&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-13-14 BURGLARY &&num;8211&semi; A victim&comma; who resides on Indentured Lane in St&period; Mary&&num;8217&semi;s City&comma; reported unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; forcibly entered his residence and stole property&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-14-14 THEFT &&num;8211&semi; A victim&comma; who resides on Tin Top School Road&comma; reported unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; stole a heat pump from his residence&period; Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Roszell&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-15-14 THEFT &&num;8211&semi; A victim&comma; who resides on Daisy Lane&comma; reported unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; stole the Maryland Registration plate from her vehicle&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-15-14 BURGLARY &&num;8211&semi; A victim reported unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; entered his shed on Jennifer Drive in Mechanicsville and stole several items of property&period; Case remains open&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-16-14 BURGLARY &&num;8211&semi; A victim&comma; who resides on Oxen Court reported unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; entered her residence and stole property&period; Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Manns&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-17-14 PROPERTY DESTRUCTION &&num;8211&semi; A victim&comma; who resides on Sandstone Street&comma; reported unknown suspect&lpar;s&rpar; broke the windows out of his vehicle&period; Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Fennessey&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-17-14 CHILD NEGLECT &&num;8211&semi; A 2 year old male was found outside in the area of 46860 Hilton Run Drive&period; The father who was located in a nearby apartment&comma; believed the toddler&&num;8217&semi;s mother had taken him with her&period; Case remains open and is assigned to DFC Rogers&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>8-18-14 ASSAULT &&num;8211&semi; A male victim reported he was assaulted by 2 unidentified black male suspects while he was sitting outside with his family on Eric Road in Lexington Park&period; The victim had an argument with the 2 suspects earlier in the day&period; He sustained minor injuries&period; Case remains open&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
