Senator David Brinkley Rep. Frederick beat in GOP primary. Brinkley was the minority leader in the Maryland General Assembly.

Sen. David Brinkley, the Senate minority leader, lost his primary race to Del. Michael Hough in a western Maryland district that includes much of Frederick County and some of Carroll County.

Brinkley made trips to Southern Maryland to campaign for Steve Waugh who is the GOP nominee running against Sen. Roy Dyson (D. Calvert, St. Mary’s).  Brinkley’s time might have been better spent in his home district.

Hough is finishing his first term in the House of Delegates. Hough campaigned as the more conservative candidate.
