<p><strong>Arrests made in non-fatal shooting near Park Elementary School and Arrest of man in beating and robbery of 87 y&sol;o man and 73 y&sol;o woman&colon; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><&sol;strong><br &sol;>&NewLine; MD&period; Anne Arundel County Police report that on March 21&comma; 2014 at approximately 1&colon;31 p&period;m&period;&comma; officers from the Northern District responded to the<strong> Brooklyn Park Library <&sol;strong>for the report of a shooting&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Upon arrival&comma; officers located two adult male victims who were both suffering from multiple gunshot injuries&period; Both victims were transported by ambulance to The <strong>University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center <&sol;strong>for treatment&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Officers quickly discovered that the shooting occurred in nearby <strong>Brooklyn Heights Park <&sol;strong>and not within the Library&period; Investigation revealed that the victims were sitting on a bench in the park when two suspects approached them and begin shooting at them&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Due to the proximity of the incident to <strong>Park Elementary School<&sol;strong>&comma; the school was immediately placed on lock down as a precaution&period; Officers were able to determine that the suspects fled toward Brookwood Rd&period; Out of an abundance of caution&comma; officers searched the school and declared it safe&period; Numerous officers were on hand for a modified dismissal&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Although the investigation remains active and fluid&comma; preliminary information suggests that this was a targeted incident&period; The victims&comma; ages 24 and 22&comma; are both from the Brooklyn area of Anne Arundel County&period; They both are being treated for non-life threatening injuries and are listed in stable condition&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Numerous officers from searched the area for the suspects&comma; but they were met with negative results&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> The following suspect information has been obtained during the investigation&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Suspects&colon; Black Male&comma; On March 24&comma; 2014&comma; members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Northern District Detective Unit and <strong>Tactical Patrol Unit<&sol;strong>&comma; with the assistance of the <strong>Baltimore County Police Department’s <&sol;strong>Woodlawn Precinct and Community Drug and Violence Interdiction Team&comma; located two individuals wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting that occurred on March 21&comma; 2014 near the Park Elementary School and Brooklyn Park Library&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> As a result of the investigation the two suspects were taken into custody by the Baltimore County Police Department on unrelated drug charges&period; Through further investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police Department&comma; sufficient evidence existed to charge these individuals with the double shooting in Brooklyn on March 21st&period; The suspects have been identified as&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <strong>Corey Jemal Barnes III<&sol;strong>&comma; 23&comma; of the 5200 block of Brookwood Road Baltimore&comma; MD 21225<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <strong>Avon Marvin Jackson<&sol;strong>&comma; 24&comma; of the 5200 block of Brookwood Road Baltimore&comma; MD 21225<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Both were charged with the following counts&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <strong>Two counts Attempted 1st Degree Murder<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts Conspiracy to commit 1st degree Murder<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts Attempted 2nd Degree Murder<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts Conspiracy to commit 2nd degree Murder<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts 1st degree assault<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts 2nd degree assault<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts conspiracy to commit 1st degree assault<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts conspiracy to commit 2nd degree assault<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts Use of a firearm to commit a violent crime<br &sol;>&NewLine; Two counts reckless endangerment<br &sol;>&NewLine; Handgun on person<br &sol;>&NewLine; Illegal possession of firearm<br &sol;>&NewLine; Dangerous weapon on school property<br &sol;>&NewLine; Disorderly Conduct<br &sol;>&NewLine;<&sol;strong><br &sol;>&NewLine; Both individuals are currently in the Baltimore County Detention Center on unrelated charges&period; A detainer has been filed with these charges&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Additionally&comma; investigation revealed that one of the shooting victims was engaging in illegal drug transactions at the time of the shooting&period; As a result of the investigation&comma; this he has been charged with several drug related offenses&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <strong>James Steven Toney<&sol;strong>&period; 24&comma; of the 500 block of Random Road Baltimore&comma; GLEN BURNIE<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> On October 18&comma; 2013&comma; at approximately 5&colon;27 a&period;m&period;&comma; officers from Western District responded to the 500 block of McPherson Road in Glen Burnie for report of a home invasion robbery that just occurred&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> Upon arrival&comma; officers spoke with the victims&comma; an 87-year-old male victim and his 73-year-old girlfriend&comma; who advised that three suspects made a forced entry into the home&comma; encountered the victims inside of the home and assaulted them&period; The suspects then ransacked the home&comma; took money and property to include a television from the residence and fled in an unknown direction&period; The male victim went across the street and contacted a neighbor&comma; who called police&period; Both victims were transported to an area hospital by fire personnel with non-life threatening injuries&period; Western District Detectives began investigating the incident&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong> UPDATE&colon;<br &sol;>&NewLine;<&sol;strong><br &sol;>&NewLine; During the course of the investigation&comma; DNA evidence that was collected by a member of the Evidence Collection Unit was processed and a suspect was developed that linked him to the incident&period; This information was relayed to the Western District Detective Unit and a warrant was issued for the suspect&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> On March 4&comma; 2014&comma; the suspect was arrested by the Prince George’s County Police Department&period; He is currently being held in their detention facility while awaiting trial on their local charges&period;
