<p><strong>Arrests made in non-fatal shooting near Park Elementary School and Arrest of man in beating and robbery of 87 y/o man and 73 y/o woman: </p>

Anne Arundel County Police report that on March 21, 2014 at approximately 1:31 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the<strong> Brooklyn Park Library </strong>for the report of a shooting.</p>
<p> Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims who were both suffering from multiple gunshot injuries. Both victims were transported by ambulance to The <strong>University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center </strong>for treatment.</p>
<p> Officers quickly discovered that the shooting occurred in nearby <strong>Brooklyn Heights Park </strong>and not within the Library. Investigation revealed that the victims were sitting on a bench in the park when two suspects approached them and begin shooting at them.</p>
<p> Due to the proximity of the incident to <strong>Park Elementary School</strong>, the school was immediately placed on lock down as a precaution. Officers were able to determine that the suspects fled toward Brookwood Rd. Out of an abundance of caution, officers searched the school and declared it safe. Numerous officers were on hand for a modified dismissal.</p>
<p> Although the investigation remains active and fluid, preliminary information suggests that this was a targeted incident. The victims, ages 24 and 22, are both from the Brooklyn area of Anne Arundel County. They both are being treated for non-life threatening injuries and are listed in stable condition.</p>
<p> Numerous officers from searched the area for the suspects, but they were met with negative results.</p>
<p> The following suspect information has been obtained during the investigation.</p>

 On March 24, 2014, members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Northern District Detective Unit and <strong>Tactical Patrol Unit</strong>, with the assistance of the <strong>Baltimore County Police Department’s </strong>Woodlawn Precinct and Community Drug and Violence Interdiction Team, located two individuals wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting that occurred on March 21, 2014 near the Park Elementary School and Brooklyn Park Library. </p>
<p> As a result of the investigation the two suspects were taken into custody by the Baltimore County Police Department on unrelated drug charges. Through further investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police Department, sufficient evidence existed to charge these individuals with the double shooting in Brooklyn on March 21st. The suspects have been identified as:</p>
<p> <strong>Corey Jemal Barnes III</strong>, 23, of the 5200 block of Brookwood Road Baltimore, MD 21225</p>
<p> <strong>Avon Marvin Jackson</strong>, 24, of the 5200 block of Brookwood Road Baltimore, MD 21225</p>
<p> Both were charged with the following counts:</p>

 Both individuals are currently in the Baltimore County Detention Center on unrelated charges. A detainer has been filed with these charges.</p>
<p> Additionally, investigation revealed that one of the shooting victims was engaging in illegal drug transactions at the time of the shooting. As a result of the investigation, this he has been charged with several drug related offenses.</p>

<p><strong> HOME INVASION ROBBERY (UPDATE) GLEN BURNIE</strong></p>
<p> On October 18, 2013, at approximately 5:27 a.m., officers from Western District responded to the 500 block of McPherson Road in Glen Burnie for report of a home invasion robbery that just occurred. </p>
<p> Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victims, an 87-year-old male victim and his 73-year-old girlfriend, who advised that three suspects made a forced entry into the home, encountered the victims inside of the home and assaulted them. The suspects then ransacked the home, took money and property to include a television from the residence and fled in an unknown direction. The male victim went across the street and contacted a neighbor, who called police. Both victims were transported to an area hospital by fire personnel with non-life threatening injuries. Western District Detectives began investigating the incident. </p>
<p><strong> UPDATE:<br />
</strong><br />
 During the course of the investigation, DNA evidence that was collected by a member of the Evidence Collection Unit was processed and a suspect was developed that linked him to the incident. This information was relayed to the Western District Detective Unit and a warrant was issued for the suspect. </p>
<p> On March 4, 2014, the suspect was arrested by the Prince George’s County Police Department. He is currently being held in their detention facility while awaiting trial on their local charges. A detainer has been placed on the suspect to appear in Anne Arundel County on the home invasion charges. Please note there is no booking photo. </p>
