CHESTERTOWN, MD – Serving warrants and responding to domestic violence calls continue to be the most dangerous part of the job for law enforcement officers. A man who had twice before been charged with domestic violence and had been in a physical domestic confrontation grabbed his shotgun to deal with the woman arriving at the man’s home with a Queen Anne’s Sheriff’s Deputy to retrieve her belongings shot the deputy. The deputy returned fire and ended the shootout with a fatal shot.

Family of five killed in crash with tractor-trailer at Rt. 50 in Wye Mills; truck rolled over car – The crash occurred in the intersection as the truck impacted the car on the passenger side. Both vehicles traveled across the intersection. The tractor trailer apparently rolled over the car before coming to rest.
Troopers have determined the Ayres family left Greenbush, Va, last night on a trip to Baltimore to visit family. The tractor trailer driver is said to have been headed to his residence in Delaware. The trailer was reportedly loaded with 44,000 pounds of polyfiber the driver had picked up yesterday afternoon in Charlotte, NC. The tractor trailer is owned by Nationwide Solutions, LLC, of St. John, Indiana.
A combined local, state and federal law enforcement partnership has led to the disruption of a cocaine distribution network operating throughout the Upper Eastern Shore and the arrests of two dozen suspects.
Police believe three suspects were involved in directing the operation. The first suspect is identified as Adrian L. Reed, aka “Slick,” 37, of the 2200-block of Pondtown Road, Chestertown, Md.
