CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD. – Driving an ATV on a public road without lights after dark and without a helmet or even a seatbelt is the fast-track to eternity as yet another Outlaw ATV operator found out when he was run over by a vehicle. The ATV operator was also transporting a passenger, his teen step-daughter, as he sped to his death on the vehicle that is not legal to take on a public road.

With gang violence sweeping through the former middle class communities of Silver Spring and Wheaton, Md., come stabbings, shootings and murders often associated with drug dealing and Mexican gangs. The latest such murder to take place in Wheaton, came the day before Montgomery County prosecutors and police held a press conference on Reedie Drive to discuss the indictment of the accused killer of the Lyons sisters who vanished on March 25, 1975.
◾Shortly before 9:10 p.m., a responding MTPD officer encountered a male subject in the westbound tunnel approximately 400 feet east of Potomac Avenue Station.
◾During that encounter, the MTPD officer discharged her department-issued service weapon, resulting in fatal injuries to the male subject.
◾There were no injuries to MTPD officers
Metro’s new anti-sexual harassment PSA is now on display across the Metro system. The ads mark the second phase of the campaign, which is designed to raise awareness that harassment of fellow riders is not tolerated on Metro.
Metro Transit Police today announced the arrest of Darius Andre JENNINGS, 20, in connection with a December 7 carjacking at New Carrollton Metrorail Station.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. Sunday, December 7, an adult male suspect approached a vehicle on the first level of the New Carrollton parking garage as the adult female victim was unloading her child from the back seat. The suspect displayed a handgun, directed the victim to leave her purse and exit with her child. He then stole the vehicle, a tan Toyota Rav 4 bearing Maryland tag 25907M1
The incidents appear to be unrelated. However, Metro Transit Police have identified an increase in indecent exposure reports in the past two months.
“Indecent exposure cases can be a gateway crime to more serious sexual misconduct, which is why we have placed a priority on advancing these investigations,” said Metro Transit Police Chief Ron Pavlik. “We are absolutely committed to keeping Metro a safe space for all riders.”
