<h2>DWI HIT PARADE DUI / driver Joe Louis Ancrum went one round into power pole and the pole won</h2>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">HURLOCK, MD. – A drunk driver with a famous name decided to flee after narrowing missing a police car, his first stop on his path to jail. With that sobriety test out of the way, the motorist gunned it and slammed into a power pole. The pole won.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Maryland State Police report that during the early morning of October 3, 2017, at 3:53 AM, Senior Trooper McMaster was traveling to his assignment while on duty and was at the intersection of Railroad Ave and Route 307, Hurlock, Dorchester County, Maryland.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Upon entering the intersection, a red Ford passenger vehicle being driven by Joe Louis Ancrum Jr., 45 years of age from Hurlock, failed to stop at a stop sign. Ancrum came inches of colliding with the trooper’s vehicle.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Senior Trooper McMaster successfully avoided being struck by Ancrum. Senior Trooper McMaster attempted to stop Ancrum however he fled attempting to elude police. He continued traveling at a high rate of speed. Ancrum lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a Delmarva Power electrical poll causing a power outage.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Medical personnel were requested to evaluate Ancrum however he refused treatment. During the course of this investigation, Ancrum displayed signs of impairment by alcohol.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//2014/04/25/mackall-snapped-led-cops-st-marys-dui-grand-prix-wheels-chase-circled-county/dwi-hit-parade-dating-serv/" rel="attachment wp-att-3674"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3674" src="http://www.the-chesapeake.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/DWI-Hit-Parade-dating-serv-267x300.jpg" alt="" width="267" height="300" /></a>Troopers at the scene arrested Ancrum for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack Dorchester County Detachment where he was further processed and issued several traffic citations to include driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a revoked license and driving without a license. He was released to his mother pending a court date.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Maryland State Police was assisted by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Dorchester County Emergency Operation Center and the Dorchester County EMS.</span></p>

<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Ancrum faced trial in Dorchester County District Court for charges of burglary, property destruction and disorderly conduct filed against him by the Hurlock Police Department on Nov. 9, 2012. On Feb. 4, 2013, Ancrum was found guilty of property destruction and acquitted on the other charges. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Charged by Dorchester Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Messick with driving without a license on May 7, 2010, Ancrum picked up another ten days in the slammer on July 13, 2010.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Arrested for DWI by Deputy Messick on April 29, 2006, Ancrum entered a plea deal with the Dorchester County States Attorney on July 25, 2006. THE DEAL: sixty days in jail. Among the dozen charges dropped as part of his plea deal was a charge of failing to stop for a police vehicle.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Ancrum was found guilty of drug possession and resisting arrest in Dorchester County District Court on Nov. 2, 1995, and sentenced to six months in jail.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Arrested for providing alcoholic beverages to minors, possession of drug paraphernalia, violating probation, and drug possession by Hurlock Police Department in charges filed in Dorchester District Court on Sept. 4, 1994, Ancrum was found guilty on Nov. 23, 1994, for providing alcohol to minors and drug possession. He was sentenced to six months in jail with five months suspended.</span></li>
