<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">(Fruitland, MD) – Maryland State Police reports that criminal investigators arrested a Wicomico County man on Dec. 7, 2016, connected to a homicide in Fruitland, Md.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">After being sent to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiners on Wednesday for a full autopsy, the body was able to be identified as that of 63-year-old Ronald Glenn Mackert, of 511 Hayward Ave., Fruitland, Md.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The accused is identified as Douglas MacArthur Harlow, 47, of 108 South Division Street in Fruitland, Maryland. Harlow is charged with first and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon, and improper disposal of a body. Harlow was taken into police custody without incident and is currently waiting to be seen by the District Court Commissioner in Wicomico County.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">At 10:00 p.m. last night, investigators from the Maryland State Apprehension Team and the Maryland State Police Gang Unit located Harlow at a trailer park in Salisbury, Maryland. He was arrested and then transported to the Salisbury Barrack for processing and later transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Fruitland Police Department received information regarding a possible burial site located in the 100 block of South Division Street in Fruitland, Maryland. Yesterday, officers and investigators from the Fruitland Police Department immediately responded to the scene and discovered what appeared to be a burial site. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and Criminal Enforcement Division were immediately contacted for assistance.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/03/MURDER-USA.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3285" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/03/MURDER-USA-253x300.jpg" alt="" width="253" height="300" /></a>Maryland State Police investigators assigned to the Homicide Unit took the lead in the case with assistance provided by the Criminal Enforcement Division of the Lower Eastern Shore and the Fruitland Police Department.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Harlow had been charged with four counts of assault on Nov. 14, 2014 by the Wicomico County States Attorney. The charges were dropped on Feb. 24, 2015.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Harlow was charged with 8 criminal counts including rape, unnatural or perverted practice, second-degree assault, third-degree sex offence, second-degree sex offence and first-degree sex offence by the Wicomico County States Attorney on Jan. 28, 2014 and all charges were dropped on May 27, 2014.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Wicomico County States Attorney filed four counts of burglary against Harlow on April 27, 2010 and on Oct. 4, 2010 all the charges were placed on the Stet Docket.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">A peace order was brought against Mackert on Aug. 23, 2015 in Wicomico County District Court.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">A DUI arrest on July 29, 2012 resulted in drug court and a guilty plea with jail time of nine months and two days ordered after Mackert violated his probation in 2015.</span></p>
