<h4><span style="font-size: 12pt;">ELKTON, MD. &#8212; Just when one might think that just about everything that could take place to create another Maryland memory in crime, another star is rising in criminal circles, certain to provide incentives for the public to get in the courtroom early for a good seat at his trial. </span></h4>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Who is this newest entry into judicial proceedings? Write down his name, Sistillio Q. Popo. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Delaware man is being held on twenty-six felony charges in a Wilmington-area prison awaiting extradition to Maryland related to an armed home invasion near Elkton last week, according to the Maryland State Police.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sistillio Q. Popo, 50, of 115 Atlas Drive, New Castle, Del., remains incarcerated at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of a $5 million bond. Popo faces three counts of attempted murder, armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault and related charges stemming from the home invasion on Wednesday night, Nov. 30, 2016.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Popo and his unidentified accomplice are accused of entering a home in the 300 block of Locust Point Road shortly after 10 p.m. Armed with handguns, they threatened the sole occupant’s life, struck him with a weapon and discharged one round in the home. After obtaining cash, firearms, and other property, the suspects fled in a silver 2008 Ford Escape.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">During their exodus from the Locust Point community, the suspects fired several additional rounds at two neighbors who saw the Ford Escape parked nearby and attempted to stop them from fleeing. The neighbors were able to provide vehicle, registration and suspect descriptions to responding troopers from the Northeast Barrack “F” and investigators from the MSP Criminal Enforcement Division. No one was injured by gunfire; the homeowner refused medical treatment at the scene.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Criminal investigators, working with New Castle County (DE) Police Department detectives, located the Ford Escape on Thursday evening. Popo was taken into custody by Delaware authorities without incident. Investigators from the MSP Criminal Enforcement Divison and Delaware executed a search warrant on Popo’s home and recovered the victim’s guns and cash. New Castle County detectives also recovered suspected marijuana, methamphetamines, cocaine and a plethora of prescription pills. A search warrant was also executed on the Ford Escape. Investigators recovered one of the handguns used in the home invasion and subsequent shooting, along with other evidentiary items.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The investigation continues; MSP Criminal Enforcement Division investigators are looking for Popo’s accomplice. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Maryland State Police North East Barrack. Drug charges against Popo were placed in 2010 and in Cecil County Circuit Court on July 19, 2011, he entered a guilty plea with other charges dropped. The terms of his probation were violated in 2012 and a bench warrant was issued by the court. </span></p>
