<h2>Boozing Kayaker Paddled Off Into the Foggy Night</h2>
<h3>Key West carpenter died in eerily similar way as his girlfriend did, after they had a weekend of drinking and ending in a fight&#8230;will her spirit now get some rest?</h3>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">ANNAPOLIS, MD. &#8212; (October 15, 2015) &#8211;Maryland Natural Resources Police report that officers recovered the body of a man last week in Back Creek.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The victim, Kenneth Scott McKiel, 41, of Key West, Fl., who lived aboard a sailboat, was found at about 7:20 a.m. on Oct. 6, 2015, floating in the water near the dead end of 6th Street in Annapolis.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">His friend said he watched McKiel paddle in the kayak until he lost sight of him, and assumed he returned to his vessel safely. After not hearing from McKiel for several days, his friend called in a missing person report. NRP officers found his body after a quick canvas of the area.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">McKiel was not wearing a life-jacket and no foul play is suspected. The body was transported to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">McKiel had a history of not being able to operate a motor vehicle after drinking any more than a kayak. In Key West Florida, his drinking bout led to an adventure of bumper cars on a local highway.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Florida Keys News reported that, “An allegedly intoxicated man played bumper cars on Frances and then Southard streets about 5:15 p.m. Monday, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage to property in his path, police said.</span></p>

<h2>McKiel&#8217;s girlfriend died in similar way two years ago</h2>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">In another incident in 2013, a girlfriend of McKiel died in a strikingly similar way.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">According to the Key West Keynoter on Oct. 9, 2013, Angela Taylor, 36, of Key West died after a night of partying.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that a boater called the U. S. Coast Guard when he found a dinghy washed up on shore near Man Key. The newspaper reported that the dinghy belonged to Taylor. Her body was later found in Boco Grand Channel by a Coast Guard crew. McKiel, her boyfriend, was interviewed by detectives. McKiel lived on a boat about a 100 yards away from where Taylor lived on her boat.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">“He said they were at a party, drinking, from Friday night until the early morning hours Saturday,” said a Sheriff’s spokeswoman. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> “He said they left the party and returned to his boat in her dinghy&#8230;. They argued and she left his boat on her dinghy about 1:30 a.m.” Saturday. </span></p>
