Driver hell-bent for hell on U.S. 13 found it in burning inferno
EASTVILLE, VA. — Virginia State Police report that a reckless driver speeding at a high rate while driving the wrong way on U. S. 13 near Eastville, Va., met his fate in a burning inferno after he crashed head-on into another car. Police say that at approximately 04:46 am, Virginia State Police, were called to the horrific crash which resulted in the death of the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier. Police say the Chevy was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 13 at a high rate of speed. The driver struck a 2005 Mitsubishi Gallant traveling in the southbound lanes head on causing the Chevrolet to burst into flames. The driver of the Mitsubishi, Juan Carlos Mendoza Garcia, 48, of Hallwood Virginia, was transported by land, then flown to Norfolk Sentera Hospital with life threatening injuries. His female passenger was flown to Norfolk Sentera from the scene. Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the Virginia State Police reports that the accident and fatal victim identification is still under investigation and pending.
