WASHINGTON, D. C. – Commuters who parked their vehicles at the Branch Ave. and Huntington Station Metro Garages and returned at the end of the long work-day only to find that the vehicle wouldn’t start and had to have it towed to garage had a nasty surprise awaiting them. Some dirtbag had cut out their catalytic converter. Now they and their insurance companies, out of thousands of dollars, might take some comfort in knowing that a worthless alleged scumbag is now behind bars and awaits trial in two states for being the culprit.

Metro Transit Police today arrested Terry CARD, 49, of no fixed address, on charges of grand larceny, vehicle destruction and possession of burglary tools stemming from multiple thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles parked at Metro parking garages.

Three of the incidents occurred May 26, 2015, at the Huntington Metro Station parking garage. In all three cases, the suspect cut the catalytic converters from late-model Honda vehicles, thereby rendering them inoperable.

Later that day, CARD was stopped by a Charles County Sheriff’s Officer on a traffic stop in Waldorf, MD, and CARD was arrested on unrelated charges. A search warrant was obtained for CARD’s vehicle by Charles County Detectives and, during the search, officers found six catalytic converters, a vehicle jack and a sawsall with several blades.

Charles County Police and Metro Transit Police Detectives shared information about the case, and subsequently, MTPD detectives were able to match the catalytic converters to the vehicles that were damaged on May 26, 2015 at Huntington Station.

MTPD detectives subsequently linked CARD to three additional catalytic converter thefts that occurred on May 13, 2015, at Branch Avenue Station. On that date, catalytic converters were stolen from two Honda vehicles and one Cadillac.

CARD will face charges for the May 26 incidents in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Charges for the Branch Avenue cases are pending.

Metro Transit Police are sharing information with law-enforcement partners throughout the region in an effort to determine whether there are links to cases off Metro property.

Card, with an address of 5904 Temple Hill Road in Temple Hills, Md., was arrested on the Fourth of July by Howard County Police Officer Amy Frasier for driving an uninsured vehicle, driving without a license and jailed. He was released on July 6, 2015, perhaps letting him have work release for his job at the Metro Garage Auto Parts Supply. Carol A. Hanson is the taxpayer provided Public Defender for Card in this case.

Card was arrested on June 4, 2015 by a Prince Georges Officer on the Inter-County Connector for driving without a license. Card has Public Defender Jenifer Park as his taxpayer provided attorney.

Card was arrested by Charles County Sheriff’s Officer Samuel Hooper on May 26, 2015 at 3:49 pm on St. Patrick’s Drive in Waldorf for driving without a permit. For this charge, Card has a public defender, Allison Heldreth, paid for by taxpayers, as his mouthpiece.

Card was arrested in Montgomery County Md., by Montgomery County Police Officer D. Courtemanche for theft of $1,000 to $10,000 and in District Court in Rockville, Montgomery County States Attorney John McCarthy dropped all four counts of theft. Card was represented by Public Defenders, who actually only defend criminals and never do a thing to defend the public. But it’s a nice title designed to deceive the public.
