The Prince George’s County Police Department made a quick arrest in connection with a homicide in Forestville. The victim is 24-year-old Dayonte Mathew Shannon of Morocco Street in Capitol Heights. The suspect is 26-year-old Daveon Lamar Ward of the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Forestville.

FORESTVILLE, MD. — Friday the 13th wasn’t a lucky day for Daveon Lamar Ward, who will always be able to remember that it was this day he was locked up for allegedly murdering a man the previous day.

Prince George’s Police report that on March 12, 2015, at about 3:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the 6500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, patrol officers found Shannon suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Shannon was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and suspect got into an argument that escalated into the shooting. Shannon and Ward were acquaintances. Ward was arrested this afternoon in Southeast Washington. He is charged with second degree murder.
