Avery Q. Mason smashed police car and tried to flee officer
Fairfax County Police report that on Feb. 4, 2015 at about 12:40 a.m., near Lee Highway and Hollywood Road, an officer driving a marked police cruiser initiated a traffic stop on a 2006 Honda Coupe for a traffic violation. The driver disregarded the officer’s signal to stop and fled onto I495 South. At I495 near I95, the driver intentionally rammed the officer’s cruiser.
Police say that the officer utilized the Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) bringing the pursuit to an end and the driver was taken into custody. The driver was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The officer responded to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Avery Q. Mason, 22, of Stafford was charged with felony speed to elude, DWI, attempted malicious wounding to law enforcement, two counts of felony destruction of property and felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
