<p><strong>EASTON, MD. &#8212; According to Easton Police, o</strong><strong>n January 28, 2015 Dean D. Baynard, 27, of </strong><strong>1070 N. Washington Street, </strong><strong>Easton, MD was charged </strong><strong>by Officer Kellner </strong><strong>on an arrest warrant with attempted 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault and reckless endangerment. Baynard was taken into custody in Queen Anne&#8217;s County with the assistance of the Queen Anne&#8217;s County Sheriff&#8217;s Office. </strong></p>
<p><strong>On January 27, 2015 officers were dispatched to the UM Shore Medical Center at Easton for a stabbing victim that walked into the emergency room. Investigation revealed that Baynard had stabbed the victim several times while the two were involved in an altercation. Baynard was held at the Talbot County Detention Center pending an initial hearing.</strong><strong> A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 25, 2015. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Baynard has been a recent resident of the Maryland Prison System, living in a cell in Jessup, Md., until he was allowed probation. He was sentenced to prison after he entered a guilty plea to resisting arrest and interfering with an arrest in a deal with Talbot County States Attorney Scott Patterson which sent him away for three years but the deal included having two of the years suspended. Restitution in the amount of $772.14 was ordered in return for a charge of malicious destruction of property being dropped. His period of probation ends on Aug. 26, 2016. </strong></p>
<p><strong>While Baynard has had minor criminal charges such as possession of drugs and absconding with a vehicle without the owner’s consent, resulting in jail time ranging from 15 to 45 days, a more serious set of charges were brought against him on Dec. 30, 2004 in Talbot County District Court. Baynard was charged with eight counts of assault, reckless endangerment, threat of arson, malicious property destruction and removing property. Talbot County States Attorney Scott Patterson dropped all of the charges on March 2, 2005.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Baynard was tried in Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court on charges of possession of an unregistered firearm and was found guilty on July 1, 2005 and sentenced to five years in the state prison system. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Twice Baynard was charged with domestic assault but not convicted. </strong></p>
