<div class="content">After taking over the <strong>Anne Arundel County Police Department</strong> which had been tainted by the political shenanigans of the previous County Executive who ordered cops to post campaign signs for him or ignore his dalliances in the back seat of a car parked in a shopping mall, <strong>Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis</strong> has been let go by the newly elected<strong> County Executive Steve Schuh</strong>. Schuh won over Democrat George Johnson in a landslide in the Nov. 4 election (see results below).</div>

<div class="content">In a statement issued to the public, Davis said he the utmost pride in the work he had been undertaking to restore the public&#8217;s confidence in the reputation of the Anne Arundel County Police. He also said he respected the position of the new executive and his right to hand-pick his own leadership team and pledged to bring about a seamless transition for the new chief of police.</div>

<div class="content">Kevin Davis was born and raised in College Park, Maryland. The oldest son of a retired Prince George’s County police officer, Chief Davis graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School and from Towson State University with a degree in English before entering the Prince George’s County police academy in 1992.</div>

<div class="content">Upon graduation from the police academy, Chief Davis was assigned to a patrol squad at District 4’s Oxon Hill station for several years. He later transferred to the Special Operations Division where he served on the Emergency Services Team.</div>
<div class="content">Chief Davis then led a street team in the Narcotic Enforcement Division as a sergeant. Upon his promotion to lieutenant, Chief Davis served as a patrol shift commander at District 3’s Palmer Park station. He was later assigned as the Executive Officer at the rank of Captain for the Deputy Chief, Bureau of Patrol.</div>
<div class="content">Chief Davis was appointed to the rank of Major in 2005 and was assigned to District 1’s Hyattsville station as its Commander.</div>

<div class="content">Chief Davis was appointed as Deputy Chief in 2009. He led the Bureau of Investigations and later the Bureau of Patrol. In 2011, Chief Davis was appointed Assistant Chief of Police with oversight over the four deputy chiefs and their respective bureaus.</div>
<div class="content">Chief Davis implemented <strong><em>Take 30 for Traffic</em></strong>, a traffic safety initiative that specifically defines geographical areas prone to crashes and crime, and mandates the daily attention of patrol officers in these hot spots.</div>

<div class="content">He also created <strong><em>Arrive Alive</em></strong>, an internal police driver safety campaign after three Prince George’s County Police Officers were killed in crashes in a 31 month time frame. He is currently the co-chair of the Maryland Chiefs of Police Traffic Safety Committee and was recently presented with the Traffic Safety Innovation Award from Maryland’s Highway Safety Office.</div>

<div class="content">Chief Davis is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He earned his Master’s Degree from Johns Hopkins University. Chief Davis is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Maryland Chiefs of Police.</div>
<div class="content">Chief Davis retired from the Prince George’s County Police Department, an agency with a sworn strength of 1,700 and is presently the 28<sup><span style="font-size: small;">th</span></sup> largest police department in the nation, in July as the Assistant Chief when he was appointed Chief of Police for the Anne Arundel County Police Department.</div>

<div class="content">He has lived in Crofton since 1995 where he resides with his wife Lisa and four children ages 11-15. Chief Davis serves on the Alumni Board of Directors for Dematha Catholic High School.</div>
