CHESAPEAKE BEACH, MD (October 27, 2014) – Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a 17 year-old male after determining he was responsible for intentionally igniting the rear deck on fire at 8611 Addison Bridge Place in Chesapeake Beach on August 26, 2014.

The 12:06 a.m. blaze caused an estimated $500,000 in damage to the 3-story townhouse and both units to either side.  The dwellings were not occupied at the time of the fire.  No injuries were reported during the extinguishment of the fire.

The juvenile was arrested at his residence in Anne Arundel County and transported to the Cheltenham Youth Facility.  He was charged with 1st Degree Arson and will remain at the facility pending actions by the Department of Juvenile Services.

While the homes were not occupied at the time, the risk to the lives of the volunteer firefighters is very real. Firefighters die in fires across the nation that were set by arsonists.
