Ocean City Police Beat: Pair charged with dealing drugs

<figure id&equals;"attachment&lowbar;4754" aria-describedby&equals;"caption-attachment-4754" style&equals;"width&colon; 300px" class&equals;"wp-caption alignleft"><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2014&sol;07&sol;Ocean-City-Police&period;jpg"><img class&equals;"size-medium wp-image-4754" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2014&sol;07&sol;Ocean-City-Police-300x144&period;jpg" alt&equals;"Ocean City Police THE CHESAPEAKE TODAY photo" width&equals;"300" height&equals;"144" &sol;><&sol;a><figcaption id&equals;"caption-attachment-4754" class&equals;"wp-caption-text">Ocean City Police<br &sol;>THE CHESAPEAKE TODAY photo<&sol;figcaption><&sol;figure>&NewLine;<p>OCEAN CITY&comma; MD&period; Ocean City Police Officer Michael Richardson arrested <strong>Margaret Jane Benchama<&sol;strong>&comma; 52&comma; of 9525 Old Ocean City Blvd on Oct&period; 22&comma; 2014 on charges of distribution of drugs filed in the District Court for Worcester County&comma; Md&period; The arrest took place at 100 64<sup>th<&sol;sup> Street in Ocean City&comma; according to police&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Also arrested at the same location for drug distribution charges was <strong>Dale Whittington Brown<&sol;strong>&comma; 61&comma; of 424 Lark Lane in Ocean City&comma; Md&period; Charges were brought by <strong>Officer Michael Richardson&period;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Brown&comma; with an address of 11003 Grays Corner Road Lot &num;17 in Berlin&comma; was charged by summons in Worcester County District Court on April 24&comma; 2013 with charges of possession of drugs and paraphernalia&period;<strong> Worcester County States Attorney Beau Oglesby<&sol;strong> worked a plea deal with the Public Defender &lpar;paid for by taxpayers&rpar; and dropped the drug charges and accepted a guilty plea to possession of drug paraphernalia&period; A fine of &dollar;500 with court costs was agreed to and no jail time was assessed&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>On July 24&comma; 2010&comma; Brown&comma; who also has an address in Delmar&comma; Md&period;&comma; was charged with multiple counts of drug equipment&comma; paraphernalia&comma; conducting a disorderly house&comma; distribution of drugs&comma; possession of firearms with drugs&period; In Wicomico County District Court on Oct&period; 25&comma; 2010&comma; <strong>Wicomico States Attorney Davis R&period; Ruark<&sol;strong> dropped or stet docketed all of the charges&period; Working the deal for Brown&comma; was Berlin attorney E&period; Scott Collins&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In <strong>Worcester County Circuit Court<&sol;strong> Brown faced charges on Sept&period; 7&comma; 2006 of possession of crack cocaine&comma; burglary and possession of paraphernalia&period; In a plea deal with Worcester County States Attorney Joel Todd and the Public Defender &lpar;paid for by taxpayers&rpar;&comma; Brown pleaded guilty to the crack charge and the other charges were dropped&period; A sentence of one year in jail was agreed and his prior probation was revoked&comma; according to court records&period; Since this is Maryland where prison sentences are virtually worthless&comma; Brown was allowed to be released on probation which he violated and was sent back to the slammer&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>On July 19&comma; 2002&comma; Maryland court records reflect that Brown was sentenced to 15 days in jail for the crime of false imprisonment for an offense which took place on June 7&comma; 2000&period; Brown had been arrested by <strong>Wicomico Sheriff’s Dep&period; Jeffrey Rantz&period;<&sol;strong> The prosecutor arranging the deal was Wicomico County States Attorney Davis R&period; Ruark&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<figure id&equals;"attachment&lowbar;3643" aria-describedby&equals;"caption-attachment-3643" style&equals;"width&colon; 300px" class&equals;"wp-caption alignleft"><a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;amazon&period;com&sol;Coke-Air&sol;dp&sol;B00JV3YK30&sol;ref&equals;sr&lowbar;1&lowbar;23&lowbar;title&lowbar;2&lowbar;audd&quest;s&equals;books&amp&semi;ie&equals;UTF8&amp&semi;qid&equals;1414047136&amp&semi;sr&equals;1-23"><img class&equals;"wp-image-3643 size-medium" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;the-chesapeake&period;com&sol;&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2014&sol;04&sol;Coke-Air-aud-cov-300x300&period;jpg" alt&equals;"Available in audio edition&comma; click to hear 4 min&period; sample&period; Also eBook and paperback" width&equals;"300" height&equals;"300" &sol;><&sol;a><figcaption id&equals;"caption-attachment-3643" class&equals;"wp-caption-text">Available in audio edition&comma; click to hear 4 min&period; sample&period; Also eBook and paperback<&sol;figcaption><&sol;figure>&NewLine;
