<p>STERLING, VA.– 08/17/2014- According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, a Sterling, Virginia man lost his life after he was struck by a motorist who was driving under the influence of alcohol Friday night.</p>

<p>Around 10 PM the victim, <strong>Jeffrey A. Carter</strong>, 53, was attempting to cross Cascades Parkway, just south of Middlefield Drive, when he was struck by a northbound 2010 Ford Explorer. The driver remained on the scene.</p>
<p>The victim was taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.</p>
<p>The driver, <span style="color: #ff00ff; font-family: arial black,avant garde;">Pierpaolo Verrone</span>, 47, of Sterling, VA, was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with DUI and remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.</p>
<p>The crash remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.</p>

<h3 class="entry-title">Motorcyclist Dies in Fatal Crash</h3>

<p>SPRINGFIELD, VA. &#8212; Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Braddock Road near the ramp to Fairfax County Parkway on Thursday, August 14.</p>
<p>A 1999 Honda motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Braddock Road, making a lefthand turn to exit onto the Fairfax County Parkway at around 6:30 p.m. As the driver turned, he collided with a 2004 Dodge van that was traveling westbound on Braddock Road. The motorcyclist,<strong> Edy Jimenez-Balderrama</strong>, 20, of Manassas was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he later died. The driver of the van was not injured.</p>
<p>The crash reconstruction unit is continuing to investigate the crash. No charges have been placed.</p>
