<p><strong>BURGLARY:</strong></p>
<p>WALDORF, MD. &#8212; On August 11 at 1:09 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Post Office Road in Waldorf for an intrusion alarm. When officers arrived, they found two open doors and an open window. Cpl. L. Blake and his K-9 partner entered the business but no one was inside. The owner of the business responded and said it did not appear anything had been stolen. Officers believe the suspects fled when the alarm sounded. POI C. Caywood is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>ROBBERY REPORTED:</strong></p>
<p>WALDORF, MD. &#8212; On August 10 at 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of Deerwood Court in Waldorf for the report of a robbery that occurred earlier in the evening. According to the four teenaged victims, they were sitting in a fenced- in backyard of a house when two suspects wearing ski masks approached, displayed a gun and demanded money. The victims complied and the suspects fled. The victims did not immediately report the incident. PFC. A. Fenlon is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>STRONG-ARM ROBBERY:</strong></p>
<p>On August 10 at 1:38 a.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf for the report of a fight in progress. When officers arrived, a man reported a group of males assaulted him and took his cell phone and cash. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was admitted with injuries that did not appear to be life –threatening. PFC M. Bourgeois is investigating.</p>
<h2><strong><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Crime-Report.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3335" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Crime-Report-252x300.jpg" alt="Crime Report" width="252" height="300" /></a>Bryantown Store Robbed at Gunpoint</strong></h2>
<p>BRYANTOWN, MD. &#8212; On Aug. 9 at 10:06 p.m., officers responded to the Bryantown Store at 6435 Leonardtown Road in Bryantown for the report of a robbery that just occurred. Investigation showed the suspect entered the business, brandished a gun and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect fled. Cpl. C. Roberts and his K-9 partner tracked the suspect to Oliver Shop Road where the track stopped about a half mile away. The suspect is a male, unknown race, early to mid-twenties, about 5’9″ with a medium build. He was wearing all black clothing to include a black shroud that concealed his entire head. PFC J.L. Clagett is investigating.</p>
<h3><strong>Were St. Mary&#8217;s Sheriff&#8217;s deputies practicing firing their weapons again? </strong></h3>
<p>WALDORF, MD. &#8212;- After a February incident in St. Mary&#8217;s County where gunfire penetrated homes in the Wildewood neighborhood, with one bullet blasting into a wall just feet from an infant, police began searching for the source of the gunfire. They soon learned that their own officers were responsible for the shots that hit several homes, coming from a nearby farm where St. Mary&#8217;s Sheriff&#8217;s deputies were firing automatic weapons as part of a training exercise. St. Mary&#8217;s Sheriff Tim Cameron said that he was &#8220;mortified&#8221; at the incident but has yet to release the names of those responsible or any discipline taken against them.</p>
<p>On August 10 at 1:25 a.m. officers responded to the 1000 block of Dorset Road in Waldorf for the report of the sound of gunshots. When officers arrived, they spoke with the homeowner who indicated she heard the sound of glass breaking in her living room and discovered a large hole and shattered glass by the patio door. She then noticed small holes in the living room wall. Officers canvassed the yard and found a projectile nearby. Further investigation revealed additional evidence on Cambridge Drive which is located behind the victim’s residence. The scene was processed and evidence collected. It is not clear if the victim’s house was intentionally fired upon. PFC S. Chandler is investigating.</p>
<p><strong><a href="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Home-Invasion.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3928" src="https://www.the-chesapeake.com//wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Home-Invasion-248x300.jpg" alt="Home Invasion" width="248" height="300" /></a>BURGLARY:</strong></p>
<p>WALDORF, MD. &#8212; On August 8 at 8:34 a.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of Drake Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary of a vacant house. Investigation showed a juvenile male, who was reported as a runaway, broke a window and gained entry inside the house. The juvenile was charged with breaking and entering and then released to a relative. Officer K. Selkirk investigated.</p>
<h3><strong>Victim of thieves who stole his electronics from his car tracked them down with his iPad so cops could nab them</strong></h3>
<p>WALDORF, MD. &#8212; According to Charles County Sheriff Rex Coffey, on August 7 at 6:21 a.m., officers responded to the 11300 block of Teakwood Court in Waldorf for the report of a theft from auto. The victim indicated his iPad and a digital camera were stolen from his unlocked car. While taking the report, officers were made aware of two other thefts from nearby cars.</p>
<p>One of the victims was able to track his iPad to Gallinule Court where PFC E. Baker and PFC M. Kelly responded. They canvassed the area and located a book bag containing a GPS, a purse, a pair of tennis shoes and other miscellaneous items – none which had been reported stolen at that time.</p>
<p>The victim continued tracking his iPad and told officers the tracking device indicated the iPad had moved to Shawnee Lane. Cpl. K. Selkirk responded to Shawnee Lane and observed two males standing near the woods.</p>
<p>Upon being seen, the suspects fled into the woods. Cpl. Selkirk broadcast a description of the suspects and provided their route of travel. PFC Kelly drove to Shearwater Lane where he suspected the subjects would come out.</p>
<p>Within a short time, PFC Kelly noticed the suspects run out of the woods. He pursued the subjects and apprehended Steven Lawrence Matthews Jr., 21, of Waldorf.</p>
<p>Cpl. Selkirk went to the area where she first spotted the subjects and recovered property which had been stolen from the three reported thefts. Matthews was arrested and charged with theft. The investigation is continuing.</p>
<p><strong>ARMED ROBBERY:</strong> On August 6, officers responded to Promenade Place in Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Sometime between 12:15 a.m. and 12:47 a.m., the victims said they were outside talking when two male suspects wearing masks approached them and brandished what appeared to be a gun. The suspects stole a cell phone, wallet, hat, car keys and a shirt before they fled the scene on foot in the direction of Dorchester Circle. PFC D. Butler is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>THEFT:</strong> On August 6 at 8:40 a.m., officers responded to the Residence Inn in the 3000 block of Technology Place in Waldorf for the report of theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that sometime between 8:30 p.m. on August 5 and 8:30 a.m. on August 6, unknown suspects broke into a vehicle and stole $6,000.00 worth of camera equipment and some other items totaling $300.00. The suspects also damaged the window frame of the car. Officer M. Cassarubias is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>ROBBERY</strong>: On August 5 at 6:49 a.m., officers were patrolling the Bryans Road area when they were stopped by a citizen for the report an assault. The victim said he got off the VanGo bus around 10:00 p.m. on August 4 and was walking through the park when he was approached by four black males who assaulted him. The suspects stole his cell phone and wallet. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene. Officer M. Cassarubias is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>THEFT:</strong> On August 3, officers responded to La Plata Road in La Plata for the report of a theft. Sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim’s garage through an unlocked window. Once inside, the suspect stole three motorcycles and other riding equipment. The motorcycles are described as one red Honda CRF150F5, one red Honda XR250R with a number five sticker on the front and one green Kawasaki KLX125A3. The suspect also stole a black Diamondback mountain bike. Officer E. Gass is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>DRUG ARREST:</strong> Police report that on August 1 at 1:30 p.m., PFC R. Kimble conducted a traffic stop on Rock Point Road in Newburg. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer witnessed the passenger throw a bag out of the vehicle. Officer Kimble detained both occupants and located the bag. The bag contained crack cocaine and marijuana. A search of both occupants of the vehicle was conducted and additional drugs were recovered. Randall Lee Loyd, 52, of Marion, Indiana was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Barry Conrad Cooper, 45, of Newburg was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics, distribution of narcotics, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.</p>
<p><strong>DRUG ARREST:</strong> Police say that on August 1 at 2:02 a.m., Officer S. Hooper was patrolling the parking lot of the Super 8 Motel in the 3500 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf when he observed a suspicious vehicle. After approaching the vehicle, the officer observed marijuana in plain view. A search of the vehicle revealed crack cocaine and cash. The estimated street value of the cocaine was $2,000.00. James Thomas Neal, 23, of Waldorf was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of marijuana and several other charges. Ravon Deyon Burnside, 20, of Lexington Park, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of marijuana. Officer Hooper investigated.</p>
<p><strong>ATTEMPTED MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT:</strong> On August 1, officers responded to Bellwood Drive in Pomfret for the report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on July 31 and 7:00 a.m. on August 1, an unknown suspect broke into a vehicle and got it started. After investigation, it appeared the suspect tried to back out of the driveway but hit a tree and then left the vehicle at the residence. PFC J. Foster is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>THEFT:</strong> Sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on July 30, 400 pounds of used copper wire was stolen from a residence located in the 4000 block of Doncaster Drive in Indian Head. Cpl. R. Cadrette is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>BURGLARY:</strong> Sometime between 6:00 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. on July 30, unknown suspects gained entry into a residence on Cheryl Turn in Waldorf. Once inside, the suspects stole four flat screen televisions, purses, cash, a gun and ammunition. The suspects also flattened the tires of vehicles parked in the victim’s garage. PFC C. Barrows is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>RECOVERED PROPERTY:</strong> On July 30 around 5:00 p.m., Officer J. Campbell responded to the 8200 block of Marshall Corner Road in Pomfret for the report of recovered property. A resident found a black laptop computer, Hewlett-Packard Mini 311, in the grass of his residence near the roadway. Officer J. Campbell is investigating.</p>
<p><strong>ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED:</strong></p>
<p>WALDORF, MD. &#8212; According to Charles County Sheriff Rex Coffey on July 12 and July 14, two separate victims were assaulted and robbed in the 100 block of St. Patrick’s Drive in Waldorf.</p>
<p>The suspects were identified as Delanta Maurice Coates, 27, of Waldorf and Mark Joseph Wallace, 28, of Waldorf. Warrants were issued for both suspects. On July 31, officers from the Warrant Unit located and arrested the suspects. Coates was charged with first-and second-degree assault, robbery and theft under $100.00. Wallace was charged with first and second-degree assault, robbery, theft under $100.00 and theft under $1,000.00.</p>
