  • Upon arrival, officers found a deceased adult female victim inside of an office inside of the building. An employee, who works in the office building, found the victim. The female had obvious signs of upper body trauma. The office that she was found in was determined to be a gynecologist office. The victim, identified as Christie Lynn Pelland, worked as a cleaner for Spiritual Cleaning.

UPDATE — On Monday, May 12, 2014 The Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to the scene of the homicide of Ms. Christie Lynn Pelland at 325 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Since then, detectives have worked around the clock attempting to identify a suspect in the murder.

 

The victim had been contracted by a doctor’s office at said address to clean and perform janitorial duties after hours. Ms. Pelland had suffered numerous stab wounds to her upper body which resulted in her death.

 

Detectives from the Homicide Unit with the assistance of several other facets and personnel within the agency have conducted numerous interviews and analyzed several pieces of evidence leading to the arrest of a suspect. It is apparent the suspect in this incident was an associate of the victim and this was a targeted attack. Investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were involved in the illegal drug trade and the robbery was a result of that.
On May 16, 2014, the suspect was charged with 2nd degree, 1st and 2nd degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He is currently in custody at the Jennifer Road Detention Center. Additional charges will likely be forthcoming.

05/14/2014 — Anne Arundel Police report that on Monday May 12, 2014, at approximately 8:45 a.m., members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to the Medical Arts Centre of Glen Burnie located at 325 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie for a report of a death.
Upon arrival, officers found a deceased adult female victim inside of an office inside of the building. An employee, who works in the office building, found the victim. The female had obvious signs of upper body trauma. The office that she was found in was determined to be a gynecologist office. The victim, identified as Christie Lynn Pelland, worked as a cleaner for Spiritual Cleaning. She cleaned several of the offices inside of the building.
Preliminary investigation indicates that there were no signs of forced entry into the building and this does not appear to be a burglary. Early indication points to this being a targeted incident.
At this time, this remains a very active investigation. The victim has been identified as Christie Lynn Pelland, 43, of Pasadena, MD.
It’s anticipated that the business will reopen on May 13, 2014 for normal business hours.

UPDATE: The victim in this case, Christie Lynn Pelland, was stopped on a traffic stop on May 3, 2014 after a shooting in Glen Burnie at the Royal Farms store. Pelland was arrested for two outstanding warrants for a CDS related charge from December of 2013. At that time, detectives had not linked her as a suspect in the shooting. That incident is still under investigation.
Detectives are currently investigating both incidents to determine if they are related and what role if any it may have played in her death.
