<p>Regina Marie McGuigan&comma; 48&comma; passed away at her La Plata home on Sunday&comma; August 18&comma; 2013&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Born in Washington DC&comma; Regina grew up amongst a close family who all lived within the same New Carrolton neighborhood&period; Although an only child&comma; Regina was blessed to have her three cousins living right next door and for the rest of her life she considered them as her brothers&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Regina’s family moved to Charlotte Hall where she attended and graduated from Chopticon High School in 1982&period; She was remembered in her class as being the &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;most popular&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;&comma; and was also chosen twice as the homecoming queen—two titles which reflected both her inner and outer beauty&period; Regina left high school with two valuable assets&comma; a diploma&comma; and a close friend&comma; Ruth Fultz&comma; who would remain a part of Regina’s life thereafter&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Regina attended college and received a degree in Secretarial Science&period; She later returned to college and received an additional degree&comma; graduating with honors as a Registered Nurse&period; She worked within the trauma unit at Washington Hospital Center&comma; later taking a position as a nurse at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home&period; Her years in nursing clearly fulfilled Regina’s natural gift of compassion as her patients often remarked they truly felt her warmth and caring&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Regina’s real calling began in 2008 when she became the mother of twins&period; Her attention&comma; love&comma; and caring toward her children was and is the essence of the word mother&period; Everyone who knew Regina also knew her greatest love was for her children and her family&period; Although she was taken at a young age&comma; her children were blessed to feel this tremendous love which will remain with them throughout their lives&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Ever present in Regina’s life was her mother and best friend &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Pat”&period; The two spent countless days and hours together filled with laughter and the sharing of each other’s life&period; There are no words which can describe the devotion and bond between this mother and daughter&comma; both of whom loved each other with all their heart&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>She will be missed among her colleagues at the many fraternal organizations she belonged to such as the Waldorf Elks Lodge&comma; the Clinton American Legion Post and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW&period; Regina’s wonderful&comma; friendly smile and vibrant personality were always a welcome sight&period; Many have best described her as a truly caring person who considered &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;everyone” to be her friend&period; She contributed tremendously to each of these organizations and was always willing to volunteer to help out&comma; especially when it came to a cause involving our veterans&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>However&comma; the charity she held closest to her heart&comma; the Charles County Humane Society&comma; went hand-in-hand with her love of animals&period; Regina volunteered at numerous fundraisers and stopped by to drop off food and other items on a regular basis&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>She is survived by her husband Michael McGuigan and their two five year old children&comma; Michael and Mikayla&comma; her mother Patricia Rosetta of La Plata&comma; her father Joseph Rosetta and his wife Gladys of Clements&comma; her beloved cousins Richard Mascaro &lpar;Toni&rpar; of Gambrills&comma; Michael Mascaro of Charlotte Hall and Robert &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Bobby” Mascaro &lpar;Pam&rpar; of Prince Frederick and their father Richard &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;Uncle Richie” Mascaro of Bowie&comma; step-sisters Margaret &lpar;Brad&rpar; Hornbeak and Kendra &lpar;Dan&rpar; Gilmore&comma; god-parents Michael and Debra Petschk and Mary Claire Bushman and Richard Bamburger&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Viewing on Friday&comma; August 23&comma; 2013 from 2&colon;00-4&colon;00PM and 6&colon;00-8&colon;00PM with a Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel&comma; 5635 Washington Avenue&comma; La Plata&comma; MD 20646&period; Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday&comma; August 24&comma; 2013 at 10AM at St&period; Peters Catholic Church&comma; 3320 St&period; Peter’s Drive&comma; Waldorf&comma; MD 20601&period; Interment to follow in the church cemetery&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Humane Society of Charles County&comma; PO Box 1015&comma; Waldorf&comma; MD 20604&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;
