EASTON, MD. — When tooling along on Rt. 50 in his Lexus, Kenny Guyton drew the attention of a Maryland State Trooper due to the sloppy way he was driving.

Maryland State Police report that on Nov. 19, 2017, at 2:35 A.M., Troopers of the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack were conducting a criminal enforcement initiative for drunk drivers and controlled dangerous substance violations in Easton, Talbot County, Maryland.

Trooper First Class Lockhart observed an operator of the Lexus displaying signs of impairment as it traveled eastbound on Rt. 50 at Almshouse Road.  Troopers conducted a traffic stop upon the vehicle and identified the driver as Kenny Lamarr Guyton, 35, of 605 E. Jeffrey Street, Brooklyn, Maryland.

During the course of the traffic stop, Troopers identified signs of impairment by alcohol and criminal indicators for drug trafficking. Guyton was found to be in possession of several baggies of cocaine and crack cocaine which was packaged for resale to include a digital scale.

Guyton was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of cocaine and crack cocaine and numerous traffic violations. Guyton was found to be in possession of a large amount of U.S. currency which was seized by the Talbot County Drug Task Force.

Guyton was taken before a Talbot County court commissioner and held on bond pending a court date. The Maryland State Police Easton Barrack is asking anyone with information regarding any criminal activity to call 410-819-4747 or the Talbot County Drug Task Force at 410-820-8940.

Charged by way of Criminal Information filed by Anne Arundel County States Attorney Wes Adams for illegal possession of a firearm and ammo on his person on Nov. 10, 2016, Guyton struck up a plea deal with the prosecutor on May 22, 2017. THE DEAL: In return for a guilty plea, Guyton was sentenced to 1095 days in jail with all but 10 days suspended. With this new arrest, while Guyton is on probation, it may be that this arrest will have consequences.

Guyton entered a guilty plea to dealing drugs in Talbot County Circuit Court on Aug. 26, 2014, as part of a plea deal with Talbot County States Attorney Scott Patterson. THE DEAL:  The rough and tough prosecutor taught this drug dealer a lesson by coming up with a five-year sentence in prison with all of the prison time suspended. With three years of supervised probation, it is odd that court records don’t reveal of any jail time being imposed for violating his probation on May 13, 2016. The hapless taxpayers of Maryland were called upon to provide a free attorney for Guyton in the form of Yves Francis Archey, of Chestertown.

Guyton entered a guilty plea to DUI in Worcester County District Court on a prior impaired driving arrest by Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputy A. Rhode on Aug. 29, 2010, as he operated a 1992 Lexus on Ft. 610 at Rt. 50. THE DEAL: In the deal on March 19, 2012, he was given 40 days in jail and a fine of $400.50. He was given credit for time served of 40 days as he awaited trial.  Guyton was provided a free attorney from the public defender’s office.

Guyton was sentenced to 219 days in jail on March 24, 2006, for once again having a firearm in spite of being a prohibited person due to a felony conviction.

Guyton pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a vehicle on Sept. 28, 2001, and was sentenced to 18 months in jail with all of the jail time suspended.

On 11/7/2017 Trooper Graef responded to the Family Dollar store in Greensboro, MD regarding a hit and run accident.  Upon arrival, Trooper Graef learned the vehicle that fled the scene was operated by a 17-year-old Juvenile from Denton, MD.  The juvenile was cited for several traffic violations and for possession of marijuana.  The juvenile was released to his mother and referred to the Caroline County Department of Juvenile Services.

On 11/8/2017 Trooper Lyles conducted a traffic stop at Dover Bridge Road and Tanyard Road, Preston, MD.  The driver was identified as James Scott Allen Jr., 32, from Denton, MD.  During the course of the investigation, Allen was cited for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on his signature pending a court date.

On 11/8/2017 Trooper Lyles conducted a traffic stop at Main Street and Payne Road, Preston, MD.  The driver was identified as Joseph Robert Harkowa, 22 years of age from Preston, MD.  During the course of the investigation, Harkowa was cited for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on his signature pending a court date.

On 11/10/2017 Trooper S. Glover conducted a traffic stop at South 6th Street and Randolph Street, Denton, MD.  The driver was identified as Alisah Nichole Katyra, 18 years of age from Ridgely, MD, and the passenger was identified as Tyler James King, 21 years of age from Magnolia, Delaware.  During the course of the investigation, Katyra and King were cited for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on their signature pending a court date.

On 11/11/2017 Trooper Capranica conducted a traffic stop at Route 404 and River Road, Denton, MD.  The driver was identified as Jason Cory Nickerson Jr., 18 years of age from Henderson, MD.  During the course of the investigation, Nickerson was cited for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on his signature pending a court date.

On 11/10/2017 Trooper Meekins conducted a traffic stop at Route 392 and Enterprise Drive, Hurlock, MD.  The driver was identified as Douglass Andre Dorsey, 33 years of age from Baltimore, MD. During the course of the investigation, Dorsey was cited for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on his signature pending a court date.

On 11/12/2017 Trooper Heun conducted a traffic stop at Route 328 and Three Bridge Branch Road, Easton, MD.  The driver was identified as Ahmir Dayquan Handy, 20, from Denton, MD. During the course of the investigation, Handy was cited for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on his signature pending a court date.

On 11/12/2017 Trooper Cannon conducted a traffic stop at Route 16 and Railroad Avenue, East New Market, MD.  The driver was identified as Bruce Edwin Wilson, 26 years of age from Easton, MD. During the course of the investigation, Wilson was cited for possession of marijuana less than 10 grams and released on his signature pending a court date.

On 11/10/2017 Trooper Short conducted a traffic stop at West Bound Route 50 and Skipton Landing Road, Easton, MD.  The driver was identified as Paula Jean Giordano, 50 years of age from Nottingham, MD.  During the course of the investigation, Giordano was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic violations. Giordano was released on her signature to a sober person pending a court date.

On 11/12/2017 Trooper Graef conducted a traffic stop at Henderson Road and Goldsboro Road, Goldsboro, MD.  The driver was identified as Katherine Renee Walls, 28 years of age from Greensboro, MD.  During the course of the investigation, Walls was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic violations. Walls was released on her signature to a sober person pending a court date.

 

On 11/13/2017 Trooper Cannon conducted a traffic stop at Pine Street and High Street, Cambridge, MD.  The driver was identified as James Albanus Ennals, 57 years of age from Cambridge, MD.  The passenger was identified as Charlene Frances Caffon, 46 years of age from Cambridge, MD.  During the course of the investigation, Ennals was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, other traffic violations and cited for possessing an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.  Caffon was cited for possessing an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. Ennals was taken before a Dorchester County district court commissioner and was released on his signature pending a court date. Caffon was released in her signature pending a court date.

On 11/13/2017 Trooper Laham responded to a vehicle in the wood line approximately 50 feet off the roadway at Route 50 and Ocean Gateway, Vienna, MD.  The driver was identified as Amy Jo Baklarz, 47 years of age from Sharptown, MD.  During the course of the investigation, Baklarz displayed signs of impairment. Baklarz was requested to provide a blood sample while at the hospital.  Baklarz was released pending further investigation as this investigation is still open pending consultation with the Dorchester County States Attorney’s Office.
