<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;"> PARSONSBURG, MD. &#8212; Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack reports that a DUI driver rammed into two other vehicles before spinning out of control, flipping his vehicle onto its roof and into a tree. Police report that on Oct. 3, 2016, at 6:17 pm, Troopers were dispatched to W/B RT 50 prior to Walston Switch Rd. for the report of a multi-vehicle accident. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Upon arrival, investigating troopers were able to determine with the assistance of multiple witnesses that the at-fault vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Versa being operated by 22-year-old Eric Gibson Jr, of Glen Burnie MD, was traveling at a high rate of speed on W/B Rt. 50 and attempting to pass between two vehicles traveling the same direction before colliding with them and crashing into a tree off the right-hand side of the roadway. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Maryland State Police Investigation revealed that Gibson’s vehicle collided with the other two vehicles before losing control and leaving the right-hand side of the roadway. Gibson’s vehicle then traveled off road into the wood-line before flipping up onto its roof and striking a tree, trapping Gibson inside the vehicle. Gibson had to be extricated from the vehicle by Parsonsburg Fire Department and was transported to PRMC for multiple injuries. Alcohol and speed were determined to be the causes of the crash. Gibson was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and other charges. The occupants of the other vehicles were uninjured in the crash.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Gibson was fined $140 for failing to provide insurance information at the scene of an accident and was fined $100 for failing to provide his identification in Ocean City, Md., on Sept. 9, 2016. Gibson had been ticketed on May 29, 2016, by Ocean City Police Officer Aaron Morgan.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Gibson entered a guilty plea to DUI in a deal with Howard County States Attorney DARIO J. BROCCOLINO (Democrat) on Dec. 17, 2015, he was given Probation Before Judgement with no time in jail and a fine of $1,000 and $800 of the fine suspended, with supervised probation. Court records from March 3, reports he had failed to pay the fine. Gibson had been arrested by Howard County Police Officer John Salato on Sept. 26, 2015, at 11:42 pm on Rt. 32 near Broken Land Parkway.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Gibson’s record shows he was convicted on Oct. 11, 2013, of driving off of a roadway while passing another vehicle on Rt. 32 west of Rt. 175. Gibson was ticketed by Maryland State Trooper Rhodes while driving a 2014 Nissan which may be the same vehicle he flipped on Rt. 50 when he was attempting to force his way through two lanes of traffic. Gibson paid a fine of $110.</span></p>
