<h2><strong>FORMER POCOMOKE CITY POLICE CHIEF AND LIEUTENANT CHARGED WITH CONSPIRACY AND MISCONDUCT IN OFFICE</strong></h2>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">TOWSON, MD. &#8212; State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt announced on July 20, 2016, that former Pocomoke City Police Chief Kelvin Sewell and Police Lieutenant Lynell Green were charged in the Circuit Court for Worcester County with one count of conspiracy to commit misconduct in office and one count of misconduct in office. The charges allege that, in November of 2014, Sewell and Green willfully interfered with the investigation of a motor vehicle accident by subordinate officers in order to benefit Douglas Matthews, a local correctional officer.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">State Prosecutor Emmet C. Davitt stated: “Police officers take an oath to uphold the laws of the State without partiality or prejudice. Any disregard of that oath should never be tolerated.&#8221; </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sewell and Green filed federal lawsuits after being terminated in June of 2015 claiming the action was in retaliation for siding with another officer involved with a complaint against the city. Protests were sponsored by groups claiming that Sewell&#8217;s firing was racially motivated. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The City is primarily black in population and hired another black police chief, Wiiliam Harden Jr. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Sewell is currently working as an investigator for the Baltimore States Attorney&#8217;s Office. </span></p>
