<h2>Maryland State Police look for stolen goods; came up with heroin and Rita Reece</h2>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">(LEONARDTOWN, MD) – What the cops expect to find in a search warrant execution isn’t always what they discover. Just in case heroin junkies are fearful that a stash of dope found in this story will reduce the availability of H in the local market, fear not, fresh supplies arrive every day.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">The Maryland State Police report that in January, patrol troopers from the MSP Leonardtown Barrack initiated an investigation into a residential burglary at a home in the Leonardtown area of St. Mary’s County, Maryland. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">During the investigation, investigators from the MSP Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region obtained additional information identifying a residence in the Lexington Park area that contained evidence about the above burglary. After reviewing the facts with the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office, a search and seizure warrant was applied for and obtained.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">On February 5, 2016, members of the MSP-Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region, patrol troopers from MSP-Leonardtown Barrack, MSP Special Tactical Assault Team Element (S.T.A.T.E.) and a detective from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office-Criminal Investigation Division executed a search and seizure warrant at the Lexington Park residence.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">A search of the residence revealed evidence about the burglary, suspected Heroin and a 32-year-old female by the name of Rita Mary Reece with no fixed address. She had an open warrant through the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. Reece was arrested and later released to a deputy with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Additional charges are pending a review with the States Attorney for St. Mary’s County.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Reece was charged by Deputy Lacey A. Johnson with five counts of possession of drugs and prescription drugs illegally on Sept. 4, 2014. St. Mary’s States Attorney Richard Fritz dropped all the charges on May 21, 2015. Traffic charges including reckless driving, driving without a permit, driving while under the influence of drugs were also dropped by Fritz on May 21, 2015.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">An arrest warrant filed by St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schultz was filed on June 14, 2015, but never served on Reece until Feb. 5, </span>2016,<span style="font-size: 12pt;"> when the Maryland State Police found her during execution of the search warrant.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt;">Charged by St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy John J. Kirkner with credit card fraud on Dec. 8, 2009, Reece entered into a plea deal with Fritz on April 24, 2012, which netted her 30 days in jail with credit for five days of time served. Seven other charges of theft were dropped as part of the plea deal. Reece had two publically funded defense attorneys in the case.</span></p>
