<h2>Deadly Driving by District DUI Thug Erik William Schmidt; Made Threats against Cop When Jailed</h2>

<p>WALDORF, MD. &#8212; Could it be that when dangerous felons flee from the District to Waldorf, they make sure they are packing heat due to the local heathens being well-known as armed killers and deadly drug dealers? Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry reports that to put icing on the cake, the District thug then threatened to harm the officer and the officer’s family.</p>
<p>On June 27 at 1 a.m., Cpl. M. Sokoloff initiated a traffic stop in the area of St. Patrick’s Drive. Upon approaching the driver, Cpl. Sokoloff detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver was arrested after failing several sobriety tests. Upon searching the car, Cpl. Sokoloff found a semi-automatic handgun which had been reported stolen in North Carolina.</p>
<p>Further investigation showed the driver, Erik William Schmidt, 29, of Washington, D.C. is prohibited to have firearms due to prior convictions.</p>
<p>Police say that while at the detention center, Schmidt made threats to harm Cpl. Sokoloff and his family. Schmidt was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and making threats against a police officer.</p>
<p>Schmidt also has an address of 2802 John A. Thompson Road in Temple Hills, Md., in addition to one at 1451 Morris Road in South East Washington, D.C. A court case in Montgomery showed an address of 1625 Morris Road SE Apt. #23.</p>
<p>Schmidt was charged with charged with the following: possessing more than one driver’s license at the same time; reckless driving; negligent driving, DUI, unsafe lane changing. Seven criminal counts regarding theft of a firearm, illegal possession of firearm and ammo were also leveled.</p>
<p>The bail bondsman for this dangerous criminal is Colette D. Yost. On June 28, 2015, she posted bond for Schmidt and he walked out of jail.</p>
<p>On July 19, 2014, Schmidt was charged with DUI and stopping his vehicle on an highway ramp by Maryland State Trooper Brock Marquis on Montrose Road near Rockville, Md. In District Court in Montgomery County on Dec. 1, 2014, the Montgomery County States Attorney agreed to a plea deal and allowed Schmidt to have Probation before Judgment after pleading guilty; with no time and a fine of $150. Court records show he never paid the fine. With the new charges placed in Charles County, his probation in Montgomery County can be revoked and a jail sentence invoked.</p>
