<p>LANGLEY PARK, MD. &#8212; Murders were once rare in Langley Park as the growing suburbs of Washington, D.C. grew after WWII with new subdivisions and shopping centers. Sprawling garden apartment complexes and a wave of new additions to the campus of the nearby University of Maryland added many new residents.</p>
<p>As the suburbs expanded even more, the white flight that had moved from the District went even further into newer homes with larger lot sizes, leaving behind the small houses and cramped apartments. The emerging ethnic population in the eighties was primarily black in what became known as the inner suburbs, marked mainly by the Capital Beltway and even better defined by University Blvd. in Prince Georges County.</p>
<p>In Langley Park, in particular, the growing ethnic population now has a mixture of Asian and Latino. While stores and restaurants reflect this change, so does the murder rate. Not that hardcore rednecks didn’t do their share of brawling and killing over the years.</p>
<p>A leader in the homicide capital of Maryland, PG County has been the undisputed champions of murder – the blacks. That’s one of the unwanted side benefits of becoming the majority population in a major metropolitan area county. To be fair, the black population also leads the community in many positive ways in churches, schools, civic groups and education; but this article is about murder, a topic most of those hard-working people would like to not be involved.</p>
<p>In recent years, as the rise of Latino gangs has provided more opportunities for violent crime, the former kings of crime, the outlaw white bikers and hardcore gangster blacks are increasingly taking a back seat to the Latinos.</p>
<p>While political leaders gathered last year in Prince Georges County to herald the “lower” crime rates, many Marylanders only shook their heads. Victims of black and Latino crime usually are blacks and latinos. The politicians bear hugged each other and walked out of the building, along with their armed bodyguards to their vehicles which had been parked in a parking lot surrounded by security cameras.</p>
<p>These same politicians, for the most part, are all part of the <strong><em>liberal Democrat political apparatus</em> </strong>which calls for all guns to be taken away from citizens and champion the rights of criminals.</p>
<p>The <strong>Maryland Senate</strong> recently voted to restore voting rights to convicted felons upon release from prison and prior to their completing the terms of probation. Since the rate of return to prison is always high for most criminals, they just might be out of jail long enough to vote for these dopey Senators – if one believes that criminals might take time out of their busy day to be a good citizen and cast a ballot. Only the simpletons of the Maryland Senate who voted for the bill are that stupid.</p>
<p>The<strong> ethnic populations of Prince Georges County</strong> bears the brunt of brutal crime and ironically, robberies, muggings and killings often take place with the victims being a small business owner or a clerk in a store or carryout.</p>
<p>Often the <em><strong>crime victims are people who work for a living</strong> </em>and are caught unaware by a criminal as they leave for work or arrive at home, as parking lots are especially dangerous as crooks crouch and hide between vehicles.</p>

<p>One type of crime that most of the public doesn’t get energized about is when drug dealer kills another dealer over drugs. Actually the elimination of a gangster by another gangster is much akin to one predator eating another in the wilds. Who really cares? The reality is that often there are innocent victims who get caught in the crossfire, not to mention the burden on the taxpayers to try, convict and house these animals for the rest of their lives.</p>
<p>The latest murder to take place in Langley Park featured two Latinos charged with his robbery and murder, also, perhaps – was the victim. <strong><em><strong>The following is the report from the cops: </strong></em></strong></p>
<p>The <strong>Prince George&#8217;s County Police Department&#8217;s Homicide Unit</strong> arrested two suspects in connection with a homicide in Langley Park yesterday. The suspects are 23-year-old <strong>Sergio Elias Serrano</strong> of the 1400 block of Kanawha Street in Langley Park and 25-year-old <strong>Julio Cesar Jacome-Rosales</strong> also of the 1400 block of Kanawha Street.</p>
<p>On March 29, 2015, at about 4:15 am, patrol officers were called to the 1400 block of Kanawha Street for a welfare check. When they arrived, officers found a man inside an apartment building suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name will be released once his family has been notified.</p>
<p>The preliminary investigation reveals the motive was robbery. Serrano was arrested shortly after the homicide in a nearby apartment building. Jacome-Rosales was arrested yesterday evening near his home. Both are charged with first and second-degree murder and armed robbery. They are in custody at the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.</p>
