<p>OCEAN PINES, MD. &#8212; Scott Allen Buchanan was out for a party time on Rt. 90 and St. Martins Neck Road at 3:12 am on Dec. 16<sup>th</sup> when Maryland State Trooper Gallagher attempted to stop him for speeding by activating his lights and siren. Instead of stopping, Buchanan figured it was time to haul butt and put the pedal to the metal.</p>
<p>Buchanan, 44, fled towards and into Ocean Pines subsequently losing control of the Chevrolet as the vehicle left the roadway and entered a ditch.</p>
<p>Maybe Buchanan was suddenly embarrassed at his lack of driving skills or thought he might lose his Dukes of Hazard Driving School Award.</p>
<p>Police report that Buchanan then placed the Chevrolet into reverse and intentionally backed into the trooper&#8217;s patrol car.</p>
<p>Hey, that’s why the State of Maryland has a repair shop, right?</p>
<p>For the record, the correct answer is no.</p>
<p>Buchanan attempted to continue to flee but stopped approximately one half mile from the collision scene where Buchanan was taken into custody without incident. Buchanan was charged with DUI, possession of prescription medication and numerous traffic offenses. He was held on a $7,500 bond.</p>
<p>Scott Allen Buchanan of 125 Boston Drive, Ocean Pines, Md., was cited by Berlin Police Officer J. Lawson with speeding on Nov. 13, 2014. Trial date in Worcester County District Court is set for Jan. 8, 2015. Charge: exceeding 64 in a 45 mph zone on US 113 northbound north of Germantown Road.</p>
<p>Cited by Ocean Pines Police with DUI on April 26, 2009, Buchanan entered into a plea deal on June 23, 2009 and pleaded guilty in return for only two days of jail time and a $408 fine. He was also put on supervised probation.</p>
<p>On Sept. 9, 2000, Buchanan was cited in Howard County for DUI and possession of marijuana. When a criminal jury trial was held in Circuit Court on March 11, 2001, he entered into a plea deal where he pleaded guilty to the DUI and drug charge. On the drug charge he was sentenced to two years of supervised probation. On the DUI charge he was sentenced to one year in prison with eleven months and twenty-seven days suspended. He was ordered to attend alcohol and drug evaluation and therapy with urinalysis paid for by him. Judge Leasure allowed the jail time to be served on DWI weekend from Friday at 4 pm to Sunday at 4 pm.</p>
